REAL WORLD: Bolters are Real!
BatReps are an invaluable for learning.
Still the same request as the previous ones;
Army List posted (maybe in a pre-post then the follow-up BatRep)
Close-up of Armies (maybe static shots)
Shot of whole table after each turn
Such a short amount makes it difficult to do everything, plus play the actual game.
Great job, again.
Both armies looked great, just starting tau myself and love that colour scheme (any chance of more pics of both forces?). Oh and nice board, beats the 4' by 4' boards i normally play on.
These video reports are great, keep up the good work
Nonetheless, thanks again, and I hope this attention to the "other" half of the galaxy continues!
What are those Xenos specific forums you hinted at?
Thank you, as a deposit ;)
Advancedtautactica.com > Tau
Also those are commonly called "Sniperfexes" not "Dakkafexes". Devourers make them a "Dakkafex".
Regardless, thank you. I love these video reports.
2x Twin Devourers = Dakkafex
Strangler + V.Cannon = Sniperfex (or Gunfexs)
btw first just would like to say that
For marine armies, I'd be interested in seeing a battle report making use of landspeeder typhoons, or land speeders in general if that's not possible.
I'm planning a combine arms force, with a mini armoured spearhead, landspeeders and a few drop pods (just need the speeders). I've looked them over points wise and they look very promising, but I'm not sure how they run on the table top.
"The battle of the shitties codexes!!! WHO WILL PREVAIL???"
Money on tau.
I run a Tyranid and Tau force alongside Guard, and they often give me the funiest games.
Just one mistake I spotted. Your pathfinder squad had three railrifles... I think the codex only allows 2.
Great Batrep.
The Tau are the anti-nid
Tau vs. 'Nids tends to be quite one-sided, I can see why you took a more casual Tau army. Maybe they'll be able to handle it when the new book comes out.
Having Darkwynn and I have to take armies we don't usually play made us both have to "play on instinct" instead of relying on every little combo and nuance we know with our regular armies.
We also didn't have the models available to build super-tuned lists with these alternative armies, and that also makes players have to loosen up and play by the seats of thier pants... which is turns out provides for a really fun atmosphere and game.
I recommend all of you guys try it out one of these weeks.
:)
All my games are fun games. No one in my area, who has any mentionable skill, even bothers with 'tuned' out armies.
I think your power gaming group just had a taste of fun... and doesn't it feel, um, fun?
-raspberry-
Being a Tyranid player, I would have left the warriors in cover and had the lictor have a go at one of the tanks. You'll be back in Tyranid shape in no time.
Looks like the board favored Tau as well ;)
I was wondering how the two carnifexes got killed in the first round of combat? I count 5 rail guns (3 BroadSides and 2 Hammer Heads). These i would think would kill one fex, but how did the other one die? Unlucky saves?
For Darkwynn however... did you forget about the ability of genestealers to outflank/entry table edge of w/o# gaunts in spearhead missions while you were deploying?
For the Nid player: I played nids up until a while ago, I feel your pain. Would have been nice to have gotten both stealer groups on one side (one assaulting up top, the other assaulting the two tanks down low), but ce la vie.
Also, threats of side-attacks tended to herd the enemy into the center of the table, all nicely clustered together for the VCs and BS's (go go str 8 large blast with pinning).
But oh well it was just a quick and fun game that we had and we stayed up to midnight playing.
The only complaints I have are the same that a few other posters keep bringing up...
1) Army lists posted somewhere
2) More Camera shots of the whole table ( I was having a hard time figuring out what tables edges were short and long in this one.. I had no idea the orientation of the game the entire time)
3) More fart jokes.
Obviously, these video BatReps would get boring if every one involved Lash Prince/plague & oblit spam vs. Mech Guard vs. [power build] vs. [power build] etc. Perhaps an explanation for your unit choices would be beneficial to those watching to grasp a new gaming concept they have not thought of or have had difficulty implementing.
My suggestion is that you, BoLS Staff, as a voice in this gaming community, use the video BatReps more as tutorials of how to use specific units, tactics, unit combinations, and the like. Try to break codices, find ways of combating the list of the month, or add flavor to an army by explaining how to use less optimal units.
In this case, the Nid list was awful and deserved to lose.
