You contribute quite a bit, so I lumped you in with JWolf and the rest. I was wrong.

As for pictures... images have meanings. And there are some things in life should be taken seriously. I know JWolf didn't mean to offend. I'm just pointing out his error in the hope that he will make more careful choices in the future. A simple "Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that." is all I'm really after.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Current estimates:

Hitler: 9 million
Stalin: 20-24 million
Mao: ~60 million

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

First of all, I have no more interest than you do in BoLS, SW. I do play 40k with the guys and I have a blog linked here, like many others. Secondly, I am surprised at your reaction to a simple picture. It's a stupid picture used in reference to a quote by the subject in the picture. It was not posted to offend anyone, just as my post was not meant to offend you. Life is too short to take things so seriously.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

CrazyRed, I was only answering a question that Tj asked me.

I am not, by nature, someone who gets easily offended. But this matter offends me. And I know of at least one poster here and 2 at my local game store who feel the same way. So I'm bringing it to your attention.

If you and JWolf think I'm overreacting or nuts and wish to ignore my (and others) opinion, that's certainly your right as the owners of this blog. But I like BoLS, so I had hoped for better.

I've said my peace on the matter.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

SW, unclench a little. Everything offends some one some where. If we spent all of our time trying not to offend people, we would get nothing accomplished. Jwolf has stated why he used the picture. Why not let it go at that and avoid the drama. Unless you like drama, then carry on.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Except that it's not ridicule. Putting Stalin in a funny hat and making a pun out of some quote of his would qualify as ridicule.

But the picture shown is a "nice" portrait. "Uncle Joe" was a grating propaganda name used to sell our "ally" (Used to be Hitler's Ally) to the American public during the time we held our nose and averted our eyes in order to fight a different mass murderer. To cap it off, "Uncle Joe Wants You" is a twist/ridicule on the recruiting slogans that typically feature Uncle Sam, the mascot for America.

As such, I find it extremely offensive. I imagine someone in Poland, West Germany, or another former eastern bloc Soviet slave-state would find it at least doubly so.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

The sky IS falling.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Every time you post it's to tell someone that a list IN THEIR AREA sucks. Do you live in 5 different places?

Horde Necron works in his area, against his opponents. If you took your area's uber-killy roxorz list into his zone, chances are it wouldn't be as good, either.

Local metagame means that the game plays differently in different places, sir.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Horde Orks have 0 mobility and very little to stop armor. Lootas are expensive and easy to kill or run off. Once they go, the Orks are at the mercy of any mech or assaulty army. Charging Orks removes all their big advantages and will often wreck the entire unit from No Retreat! wounds.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Why facepalm. IG basilisks never killed enough orks to stop them getting in close combat and from there it was just mopping. Marines never had enough mobility to handle even one ork flank. Only my eldars could reposition and storm a flank before he could get reinformcements on road. And i got lucky to draw him. In the end i had 12 models left with 6 troop models and he had around 40-50 on 2 objectives. Managed to contest with my last tank in turn 6 one of his objectives and got the draw. And lootas can kill almost anything except leman russes and land raiders. Is a tough list. probably exist harder on orks but in this tourney (which was without special chars) it was very effective.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

i had little success with the 8 man 4ML DEV squad...any pointers. Usually i run 2 Las and 2 PC with great success, but the points will kill you...I deal with tau and nid mostly, the str 8 is barely enough for 13 front armor hammerheads and T7 'fexes...but i like the 4 template option especially when combined with Thunderfire Cannon vs hordes...

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

The deployment for one of the games was something like dawn of war where it said he could deploy an HQ and 2 troops but everyone knows the codex trumps mission rules. Therefore demonic assault is the only way demons get on the table. He found a judge to say he could start with demons on the table. Thats why this year every mission at every Ard Boys had the demonic assault rule written as the only way demons could enter the table...

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

I play IG and I am seeing this at my hobby centre, nothing but Rhinoes full of MEQ bodies rushing my squishy human line and rolling it up. I'm supposed to be the one good at capturing objectives but instead I am lucky to get just 1!

Currently my newest list has 85 men in it just to survive the inevitable amount of bolter fire I expect, I have a decent spread of plas/melta and flame (I used to spam) and Ironhand to eat Monsters, tanks, vendetta etc....but how do I survive a 3+ horde?

Because a development that seems to be coming into simultaneous effect with this MEQ horde list, no one puts cover on the table anymore. When you have mobile cover from vehicles and 3+ armour saves, those rows of sandbags or those clumps of trees on the terrain shelf become redundant.

Even the battle reports on BOLS youtube channel look just like my hobby centre tables, huge wide open spaces for your vehicles to drive up and down, hardly a tree in sight for a poor guardsman to hide behind...

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

Didn't you read Lobo and Rob Leifield comics? Assault with them is dull. Shooting at them is dull. Unless you're playing Guard and loading up on pie plates or playing Marines of some flavor and loading up on power weapons/frost blades/thunder hammers/lightning/wolf claws, Plague Marines take too long to kill (and to die!) to really be fun.

Re: 40K EDITORIAL: Uncle Joe Wants You.

I agree that Corns are drifting towards more elite lists, but I'm curious about the 9 Wraith build.
