Nice.
However, this kit, as well as the Cities kits, aggravate me.
On this particular box, you can't do inside corners, so no elaborate models, sadly. It's limited to 'Square', 'Rectangle', or bigger versions of either.

Has anyone looked at using the Aquila facade on a bastion (or two)? I'm curious how compaitble they are - for example, is the Aquila eagle panel the right width for one side of the bastion?

The 2 pieces you guys are wondering about are to join to floor sections from 2 bastions. i.e. you take one bastion floor section and glue it together, then you do the same with the other bastion floor section, then when you want to join all of the floor sections together, you put those 2 long straight pieces in between the to floor sections and glue them together... I used mine to fill the gaps left at the base of the tower/floor section to fill said gaps. Took me a couple of minutes to figure those out, it was rather vexing... If anyone needs further explanation let me know...

Those parts were quite vexing. I build a two-level bastion and simply could not figure out where those pieces went! Goofy that they didnt show how to use them in the instructions.

As far as I can see, the only hindrance to this project would be the cost. It would definitely look impressive.

Connecting 4 Bastion bases to a central tower will be more complicated than what I've shown above, because the center part won't have a base of its own at all like when connecting Bastions in a linear fashion. This means that you'll need 12 base pieces, requiring the bases of only 3 Bastions. However, if you want the floor/roof pieces for all 5 sections and lascannon gun bits, etc., then you'll still need a total of 5 Bastions. You could reduce this by building some of the roof pieces from plastic card or some other parts.

Also, the Bastion sprue that is available separately from the bitz pack service might be helpful for a project like the one you've suggested.

I meant each side as in all four sides, which would take 5 bastions if i did my maths correctly.

These kits would definitely benefit from the use of an airbrush.The GW paint range thins well with Tamiya acrylic thinner and drys dead flat.

Glad you found this helpful. An airfield control tower sounds very cool. I'm a bit of an aviation buff myself. I'd love to see some pictures when you're done and I'm sure many other hobbyists out there would too.

Thanks for the kind feedback. I'm anxious to get this model painted along with some Aegis Defence Line and some more Bastions. Once my Strongpoint box comes later this week I'm really hoping to crank out some Planetstrike terrain. I'll be sure to share a few pictures after some pieces are fully painted.

I discovered a great color scheme for the new Bastions and Defence Line used by one our local GW managers. He painted these kits with Charadon Granite, then drybrushed with Khemri Brown followed by a final highlight of Dheneb Stone. The very top edges of the pieces were painted Scorched Brown. After seeing several different color schemes in stores and online, this one is my absolute favorite and I'm planning to follow at least the major three colors of it, Granite, Khemri, Dheneb, on my own Planetstrike kits.

Yes, there is an odd pair of pieces in the kit with the cryptic "not needed for single Bastion" and unfortunately they provided not a single clue as to exactly where the designers thought it would make a good part to use for multiple Bastions.

One thing is certain, it is not the correct length to use on the seam for the lower part of the conversion I've featured here. I'm considering covering the seam with a rivet strip custom made in a manner similar to the method I used to build the custom door. I'm still considering several minor details before I begin painting.

If I understand your question correctly, I think it would look great. In fact, as mentioned above, that's what one friend of mine is doing. His tall section will have a short one on either side of it, requiring three Bastions total for the project. I almost went that route myself, but decided to stop at the double-Bastion for the moment.

I wonder if there is a way to modularize bastions with magnets or tongue and groove connectors so one could switch parts and make different style buildings.

For instance, suppose I wanted to have a choice between two single bastions or a doublewide one; I'd make one wall on each removable, take them off, and join the two towers. I can see a similar method to make bastions of variable height.

The bastion wall segments are twice the width of the single Cities of Death wall segments, I'm working on a Sisters of Battle chapel using those parts. The only problem is the the height of the lower row of bastion walls is less than the CoD walls... nothing some plasticard can't fix.

I know this will probably sound ludicrous (and of course cost alot of money) but how do you think it will look with one of the smaller platforms on each side? Because i think it would look pretty cool, kind of like a star fort.

nice guide, I had wondered how easy it was going to be to achieve it. Looks pretty straight forward.

Now I am just going to have to build a big one for myself and any left over parts can be made into a destroyed/damaged bastion. Thankfully they have released the floor tile sprue, so I can put together something very easily.

Now to just find the time to get everything done!

I played a Game of Planetstrike recently and I think it went pretty well. Orks defending vs Guard. Guard was practically tabled by turn 4, which I feel bad about.

The one noteworthy thing is that my Opponent took the Scorched Skies Stratagem and so dropped 14 Firestorm Blasts onto my position. In the end, thanks to a KFF and hiding most of my boyz in Bastions, He killed 2 Killa Kanz (From 2 different Mobz) and Shook my Deffdread. The Bastions all survived Intact.

kindof...when a unit deepstrikes onto the board that you want to target (this is done in the first turn when the attacker is deepstriking everything) you reveal this stratagem. To this first unit, it deals D6 S6 hits. For every subsequent deepstriking unit, you roll a D6, and if you get a 1, then the same thing happens. In my game, I think it killed one daemonette. whoopee.

If I remember correctly Krak Attack is the one that has a chance of dealing strength 6 damage to every unit that Deep Strikes onto the board.

GW terrain is awesome... but, the thing is, i'd far rather leave the terrain building to whichever gaming place i'm going to. If it's a terrain piece that I love enough - such as a Nurgle bastion i'm doing soon enough - then i'll do it... but all of this is Imperial terrain, or Imperial + 2 Accessory Sprue terrain. I don't roll that way

It's missing the metal join between the two bastions. In the instructions it shows a long riveted strip with a couple bolts, then says "not needed for single bastion". Slap that on where the two join and it'll look perfect! Thanks for posting this, I was thinking of doing the same thing myself.
