Bell of Lost Souls: 40K NEWS: Bitz Pack Releases

  • Anonannoyed · 4 months ago
I love this ad. I think GW is pretty smart buying ad space here.
  • theemperor · 4 months ago
hasn't this stuff bin out for a while?
  • Spud · 4 months ago
Some of this has been out for a looong time.

But, you've not reported that a new Mighty Zug is out.

    Drones!

I love "The Chase", ill probably buy it anyway, despite not having any interest in orcs and goblins. The Squigs remind me of the old "Gnarly" ones, back when Squigs were cute, funny and full of character. I approve of them wholeheartedly.

I do wish collectors range would expand to more weirder stuff..but thats my blind hope/dreaming they might do a blister each for minor-races...mmmm umbra blister, mmmm enslaver blisters. Yep, I can dream...

    Really BoLS??

Did you guys just copy, paste, and link what was in the GW Newsletter, to the letter??
  • Conrad_Dakarn · 4 months ago
If you don't like what they're publishing....don't read it.

    Simples
  • kauyon_la · 4 months ago
To the contrary Conrad, I love just about everything they posted since I started reading them daily about a year and a half ago.

I guess that it's kinda dissapointing that they didn't explain more thoroughly that not all of them were new (only 4 are) or that it was info released through the GW newsletter. Though I guess it being the middle of the night and all might have kept Bigred from posting more.

I just thought that I'd mention it is all..
  • Sathos · 4 months ago
Has it not occurred that they may post something like the GW newsletter contents for those that don't get the newsletter and therefore wouldn't know?

I hate to say it as I'm sure it wasnt intended but your first post there was pure troll...

Onto the real reason for me being here.

Thanks Bigred, I am considering "the chase" as squigs for my 40k Orks (for old zogwort) they look awesome^^

There isn't anything wrong with someone expressing their dissatisfaction with the BoLS material. Feedback, good or bad, is helpful to the people who run the site.

I don't know why people are so defensive of a website. It isn't your site and unless you are friends with Bigred you don't have to stick up for him, he is a big boy.
  • Sathos · 4 months ago
I wasnt specifically "defending" Bigred, my point was that BoLS have given themselves a mission to keep us upto date on pretty much everything GW related, as that is also the entire point of GW releasing their newsletter BoLS are doing the right thing by reposting it to their blog site so people who dont get the newsletter know about these updates (deja vu on my postings???)

Secondary point being if the newsletter provides the needed information what would be wrong with simply copying and pasting it when it is clearly not a topic that requires a four page editorial about the history of GW's newsletters, the items on the sprues and what BigRed had for lunch. :)
  • Spawn_of_the_Warp · 4 months ago
Those would look great leading a Guard army lol
  • mordiano · 4 months ago
And so that it can be discussed here!!

Anyways, there are no media that only get their info from 1 source are there???

    .....ohhh maybe in... china!!
  • Conrad_Dakarn · 4 months ago
    Tis fair enough.

I just get rather tired of people "getting down" on BoLS when they're just supplying information.

Second hand or not, the information is still good and it's annoying that people aren't grateful for what they get. They just don't seem to have the realisation that this doesn't have to be here and that it's a service for free.

And I know Sathos has responded already but just to confirm that I don't get the newsletter so quite a bit of "second hand" info is actually first hand to me.

On this occasion, it wasn't new news because I'd already gone over the GW site but other occasions have been new....like the Space Wolves stuff.

Not getting at you...just saying what I vented a little above.

The sheild drone kit has been avalible for over a year, they were there when I started my Tau army last March. Still, I wish they'd include the plastic parts you need as well.
  • Silverblade · 4 months ago
That's funny, 'cos I never even knew it existed, and I've been collecting Tau for 3 years! They didn't publicise it very well!
  • Anthony James Yeates · 4 months ago
Yeah it wasn't easy to find. It's been under Miscilaneous in the bitz section since they redid the site though.
  • sinsynn · 4 months ago
Tau players like myself NEED those shield drone kits, since the only way to get them is A) Pathfinder Shas'ui blister pack- he costs what? Around 13 bucks I think, and comes with ONE shield drone.
Or B) Shadowsun model. Like 15 bucks or so I think. She comes with 2 shield drones.
Being that my list has like 6 or more shield drones, this adds up! I agree that they should come with the gun drone bits to make complete drones, as we're paying 8 bucks for 4 tiny pieces of pewter, but what are you gonna do? I realize complaining about GW is like banging one's head against a very large brick wall, so why bother?
However, I will say that they should really include two shield drones in the Crisis Suit Commander kit, as this is usually the setup most players use.
Anyway, I'm giving gun drones a try in 5th ed. Everything gets a cover save all the time now, anyhow, so maybe I'll save 5 pts. a drone, still get the ablative wound, and die/run away faster in close combat, so my troops can shoot the assaulters. My Crisis suits never win in CC, they just hang around and die in MY turn, so those damn assaulty jerks just move on in their turn. That always pisses me off, so I don't think I'll mind losing the invulnerable save in CC, and I'll probably still always get a cover save against insta-kill firepower, and even then I just yank a drone if I fail.
Worth a try to save 30 points in the list....

Been checking out the meltaguns for a while now for my mechanised steel legion. Worth adding is that there are plasmaguns on offer aswell.
  • TheGreatBeyond · 4 months ago
More importantly, from the second newsletter just sent - Space Wolves!

"This stunning Grey Hunter has been assembled using the forthcoming multi-part plastic box set; just one of the fantastic new Space Wolf sets coming in October! "

    http://gwutil.com/newpictures/products/INC_Spac...
  • Drew_Da_Destroya · 4 months ago
Neat! Official confirmation of the October release.
  • TheGreatBeyond · 4 months ago
    More:

    "Incoming! Space Wolves

The Space Wolves were one of the first Space Marine Chapters founded by the Emperor; fierce and barbaric heroes of legend who charge fangs bared into the teeth of the enemy.

In October, this Chapter of ferocious warriors is being re-launched with a brand-new Codex and range of Citadel Miniatures."
  • BrassScorpion · 4 months ago
I sent the Space Wolves newsletter to Bigred a little while ago. A topic about the new Space Wolves releases will be going up here on BoLS a little later today.

GW's e-newsletter distribution can be a little sporadic. I got the one about the Bitz Packs, but not the one about the Space Wolves. Luckily, my spouse got the Space Wolves newsletter, which she of course shared with me, but oddly enough she didn't get the Bitz Pack newsletter. As subscribers, shouldn't each of us have gotten both? Something is getting lost in "the Warp".

Shield drones? Why not markerlight drones?
  • smurf42 · 4 months ago
The bitz packs look and pobably are fantastic whether they be for WFB or 40k. But have you guys seen the prices!? Most of the weapons (SM anyway) you'd be better of buying a boxed set rather than the individual bitz! Just a thought...
  • whitestar · 4 months ago
How many plasmaguns or meltaguns do you get in a box of tactical marines? I'm pretty sure if you need to beef up your squads with more meltaguns it would be a waste to buy a whole box.
  • ROB0362 · 4 months ago
Or you can get most of the weapons form third party vendors who sell bitz like www.bitzbarn.com and you get the plastic and the shipping is not outrageous for a small order something like 2.99
  • whitestar · 4 months ago
GW = free shipping right now
  • Name · 4 months ago
    For orders over $15.
  • the_killer23 · 4 months ago
    5 metal Meltaguns - $6.60
    5 plastic Meltaguns - $10

Clearly the price is for once in GW's favor.
  • Stad · 4 months ago
Those bit prices are still too much for what they are worth. A sprue of floorboards 15$ CAN, I can get the whole building for 35.

They should be cheaper... but alas gw

    Shield drones! At last!
