Bell of Lost Souls: 40K NEWS: New Bitz Additions

  • AngeredinAkron · 8 months ago
The removal of the Bitz program was one of the SHITTIEST things that Shampoo Salesman, Mark Wells, has ever been responsible for.

Why not just make pre-painted minis? They will ALL BE THE SAME NOW.

Useless "Bitz Packs" don't even come close.

    Angered in Akron.
  • GuyLeDouche · 8 months ago
There are more than a couple of mail order bitz companies that are available to you in Akron. All minis need not be the same now.
  • OXRS · 8 months ago
Both the Land Raider Terminus Upgrade Kit and the Baneblade Sponsons and Accessories kit have been out for almost as long as the Baneblade itself, at least in Canada. Nothing new with those two. The IG Tank accessories are nothing new either.

All the other backpacks, jump packs and should pads came out a short while ago, so they are at least recent.

Did the tank bits go away for a while in the last month or something? I know they were all available at that time, but I hadn't really looked since then.
  • MarcusZ · 8 months ago
No they didn't and I was asking myself the very same thing when I got the GW Newsletter the other day.

But maybe they do add/remove their bits-packs randomly to avoid boredom. I've just realized, that the Tyranid bits are missing. Last time I've checked they where still available (big arm sprue and biomorph sprue).
  • Digitarii · 8 months ago
I remember seeing these kits a couple weeks ago on the site.

If they would just put the marine legs on a separate sprue, I would be happy. I have tons of torsos, not enough legs.

And I have to agree with AiA on the removal of the bits service. Especially since I can't get the one Escher ganger I need for a conversion for an Acolyte.
  • Terragar · 8 months ago
I'm just glad I made a ton of chaos lords before they took away our bitz
  • Mrrshann618 · 8 months ago
Tell me about it. I'm completely at a loss for making any cool CSM lords of MY choosing. If you look at my old SM army, nearly every commander was scratch built, using both CSM adn SM parts.

Now the only multi-part model i can buy is a frigen Termi-lord.
Or make a lacluster one out of spare CSM parts.

Check out sites like www.bitzbarn.com and get the pieces you want to customize the mini's that the way I do and the shipping is not insane like GW
  • HBMC · 8 months ago
Apart from the Silver Skulls shoulder pads, these came out quite some time ago.
  • Bigred · 8 months ago
GW is going some type of push with these bitz, as they just sent out a "new bitz" email with all of these listed.
  • AngeredinAkron · 8 months ago
They push all they want. Their "bitz" are CRAP.
  • RealGenius · 8 months ago
Actually, I love the Land Raider Terminus Upgrade Kit. It is the gun sprue from a Predator and a Razorback; perfect for all of the Marine tank commanders out there. An easy way to get extra sponsons and weapons for all your STC designs.
  • Drop Trooper · 8 months ago
Feth this!! what happened to the days you could order any part? I have an old IG army that is different to everyother army out there, My SM army however, seems to be exactly like every other one,

  • Semi Clean · 8 months ago
Nice to see GW trying to return to how they were 10 years ago lol.

GW must seriously employ only the strongest tongued window lickers around.
  • AngeredinAkron · 8 months ago
And that's what I've said - GW is REGRESSING!

15 years ago when I started into this hobby, I would look at my shiny catalogue, and then go to the store - NOT AVAILABLE. How about... NOT AVAILABLE.

Forget bitz. Forget availability. Forget actually having a cool army like White Dwarf - for you kidz out there, White Dwarf was a magazine with real articles, cool stuff, and real people. Not a monthly catalogue and no personalities.

Ah yes, the days of Adrian Wood, Paul Muller, Paul Sawyer, Tuomas Pirienen (I'm sure I spelled that wrong...).

Back then Alessio was just some clown who was winning tournaments in Italy.

Back then Specialist Games - for you kids out there, Specialist Games was this awesome side of Games Workshop that emphasized fun over winning - was IN White Dwarf, and more importantly, was IN THE BLOODY STORES!

    Fast forward fifteen years.

Games Workshop is run by a former Shampoo Salesman named Mark Wells. He has singlehanded turned a games company into a SHAREHOLDING. Something you own like Wal-Mart, or Pfizer , or McDonalds, it's no different.

The life has been bled out of Games Workshop to make more profit, more shareholder return.

    RUBBISH! RUBBISH! RUBBISH!

Games Workshop thinks it's tightening the ropes, battening down the hatches, and making good decisions.

They forgot about the wave starting right here in Akron Ohio!

STAND UP! HOOK UP! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

    Bah. Humbug
The Bitz have been on for at least 3 months
  • UltramarineFan · 8 months ago
If they are going to make an attempt at doing bitz seriously then about giving us something that is crucial but are really hard to get spares of like, I don't know, LEGS! I have about five convertions going that are stalled because they have no legs. GRAAH!
  • rob0362 · 8 months ago
All companies that last are after profit my Lord are we so foolish not to see that The way GW did bitz was not profitable for them I totally understand that and most people should to They have let others like www.bitzbarn.com handle the bitz side of the business. The warehousing and employee cost of maintaining and do bitz orders was way too high for them to maintain that system.

As for Specialist games I could not agree more. Hell last year I heard BFG sold more the LOTR. They screwed up on LOTR and they are paying for it.
BFG is a Great game and fits the 40K universe the same way Mordhiem fits the Fantasy environment. Pushing these games would make more financial sense then pushing LOTR. Which I suspect they will stop making LOTR rules now that War of the Ring is out or at least they should
  • BruceTheMoose · 8 months ago
Bfg did NOT sell more then LOTR.

    The sales were

    40K
    LOTR
    All Specialist Games COMBINED
    Fantasy

The turd in the lineup is Fantasy.

Any person who thinks LOTR was a mistake is a moron.
  • rob0362 · 8 months ago
    You are on CRACK
Fantasy and 40K are always been Number 2 except when the LOTR movies were out.

Is your sales data form 2004 or 2008

Yes in 2004 Fantasy was number 2 and LOTR was number ONE Specailist has always been f4 or 3 in sales.

    LOTR is a DOG
When GW sent an email out to Independent retailers in the US last week for pushing War of the Ring Point was was this word for word
"VERY Very Few People Play Lord of the Rings so there are no Veteran games"- even the retail sales staff acknowledged was the public has know LOTR is a game NO ONE PLAYS

Thats was a GW Quote in an email so how with that and 2008 sales do you say LOTR is number 2 sales? Maybe in New Zealand (no offense to New Zealand) but not in US or Europe.
  • UltramarineFan · 8 months ago
"Fantasy and 40K are always been Number 2 except when the LOTR movies were out." so your saying that when the LOTR movies were out Fantasy and 40k were ahead LOTR. ?
I have never heard that LOTR was behing specialist games, even combined. I find it even harder to believe considering that at my store nearly everyone has a LOTR army.
  • AngeredinAkron · 8 months ago
No, the Moose is right. The US accounts for just a small portion of the global sales. I know that's hard to imagine, when we think of ourselves as "Numb3r One111!!!" all the time.

The Moose's figures are accurate. Global sales for the years 2002-2008, since LOTR was produced, have 40k-LOTR- and then a struggle between SG(all) and Fantasy for the last spot.

Any Specialist Games game on its own isn't even worth including in the data, the numbers are so low. But combined, that's ALL the SG games, they have an impact.

LOTR has never been a dog. Never will be. It's just the "hatorz" who have always wished it ill. Those in the know (such as myself) feel bad for people like that.

Now, Fantasy on the other hand, is hurting in a bad way. A really bad way. Even the big 7th edition "hysteria" barely put an upward blip on Fantasy. It's a hurting game.

5th edition 40k even hurt Fantasy more, and frankly, War of the Ring, will practically kill it. It's that good, and Fantasy is that much of a dying system.

    Sad, but true.
  • rob0362 · 8 months ago
Actually your wrong on several point

1.) US is as big if not bigger than UK and bigger than Asia and Europe combined need to check the investor reports.

2.) US sales were up and Asia and Europe were down.

3.) Even GW retail sales admits no one Plays LOTR and that to be a Stockist THEY FORCE LOTR on you and make you carry the starter stuff and that slights the numbers.
  • AngeredinAkron · 8 months ago
OK, you believe whatever it is you want to believe. There's no convincing the Hatorz out there. Good luck with your BFG or whatever it is you enjoy.

I say to you Good Day.

    I SAID GOOD DAY!
  • rob0362 · 8 months ago
I like 40K and Fantasy and I love the Game and I have really no Complaints with GW except the stupid Website change I miss all the Great Content
  • UltramarineFan · 8 months ago
Where have all these ideas of SG being ahead of fantasy come from? The essence of SG is lying on the floor with its stomach ripped open and the spit of the other systems mixing with its blood, seriously barely no one plays the SG anymore or even buys them.

But what about the great new Dark Eldar prisoners which have JUST been made available?! How come they didn't get any love....?? *rolls eyes*

All for an increase of odd bits, now, make Greater Daemon bits available so everyone can afford to make a Fateweaver or Skarbrand. Please, that is.
  • Siph · 8 months ago
The Chirugeon bitz pack includes 4 Cypher backpacks which make great SM Veteran or Character backpacks especially if you are Relictors, Mortifactors, Templars, a Chaplain etc... any one who loves skulls and bones really.
  • Schnitzel · 8 months ago
Go great with Choas and Renegade Chapters as well.
I'm buying a couple pack of it to make some slick Renegade Apothcaries and such. Heck, maybe I'll look into twisting a Chosen Chaos Space Marine squad into an all Apothecary squad. Heheh... A "Cult of Mutilation" or somethin nifty like that. :D
