Caught a glimpse of this in the Planestrike book as well.
It's certainly nice but a couple things were handled poorly - that's one weedy looking lobba, and how are people supposed to have a Killkannon and a kannon/zzap gun at the same time without extensive converting? Something many Ork players are competent or excel at, myself included, but I'm speaking from a practical point.
The deff rolla is nice though!

I appreciate now that they took the time to fully model the Kannon and Zzap Gun, even though they are almost entirely obscured in the turret. It may take a little work to construct an extra mounting for the spare weapon, but not as much as rebuilding the rear half would have.
I like the Rolla a great deal. The slightly more complicated hydraulics look better than the old Forge World straight supports.

Seems to me that GW is switching some of their marketing goals. They're rolling out 5th edition pretty powerfully, and one of the big things they seem to be catering to are plastics (obviously) but more than that, options. From the Baneblade variants box to this, the new Leman Russ variants, and the forecast Daemon Prince... I'm liking where GW is going with this. More options. Gotta love it.

More options is good. But in the same respect they take away options to. Look at recent codexes and wargear is extremely limited, glance over a IG HQ model for example like a Commissar and the only wargear you can give them in the Codex just also happens to be what models GW makes. Even though there could be more, i.e: conversions ect. Its small things here and there like that, nothing huge. But GW just as easily limits as gives, but this new kit for the wagon looks pretty neat.

well you can look at it that way or you could say that they are now supporting everything in the codex without the need to raids your bits box. (The rumour had been that they preferred new entrants to the hobby over veterans as veterans spend less over a longer period, whereas new entrants to an army spend a shedload in one go... I'm not saying thats the current ethos, but its true if you consider veteran as someone with that army rather than someone who plays the game...) I think I've only spent £20 on my eldar in the last few years, but bought 2 other whole armies.

I'm too am very disappointed that you can't mount a Kill Kannon and Kannon/Zzap Gun soley with the contents of the plastic kit.
I know from a gameplay perspective that might not be the most optimal setup, but it is an option in the 'Dex and building a Soopa-Dakka-Wagon sounds like fun!
I'm just sad I glued my Kannon in, I should have magnetized it like I did with the Front Ram (in anticipation of the Deff Rolla.)
I'll just have to hit up some Bitz stores to get another turret...Even though my current Ork List features wagons with only 4 big shootas and no other guns.
It's a shame the Orks really don't even have one true tank to satisfy the desires of tread-heads.

One sprue? Fairly puny looking pieces? Why wasn't this just included in the set? There is plenty of room in the box and the quality or quantity hardly justifies the 12-15e they are going to charge for it. Like the grot though. Forgeworld are going to release a line of upgrades for truck and wagon, going to wait for them. Hope they do a better job of the stompa upgrade sprue.

Supposedly, the reason they didn't simply include it in the box is because of some pricing issue. While it obviously could have fit in the box, it would have made the base BW cost more than the cost of a land raider, and I can see why there would be complaints there, especially looking at it as an ork player.
I have to say I'm a bit disappointed, the only thing on the sprue I was really anticipating was the death-rolla, and I'm fairly sure I can build one of slightly poorer quality for cheaper. It's all nicely modelled, but not nice enough to pay $15 to throw in my bitz box.

GW likes to make a big issue of pricing due to material. I work in extrusion. The molds ,labor, and development are what cost money. Material is peanuts next to any of these. They themselves have pointed that out in their financial statements to shareholders The number of different spruces are what decide the true cost. That's why they're focusing kits with multiple options over a number of separate kits. Its saves shelf space and makes it easier to make the money back on the molds. i.e. the new sentential is only one spruce so GW save huge money by not having to split shelves, only one machine needed to run a line and the minimum out lay. Better to make back the deathrolla sprue money over time in the original kit rather than risk a shaky upgrade sprue that has everyone thinking cheap DIY or quality forgeworld. Limited edition runs cost insaner money from a production stand point. It just strikes me as an unnecessary flip off to their customer base.

The grot is the one from the Stompa. They just changed the tool in his right hand.

If you guys would like to see photo of the actual sprue, just follow the yellow brick road:
Also, the price of this puppy is going to run you $13.25 (USD)/£7.85
Needless to say, I've been following this release quite closely. :)

Looking at the mounting plate for the lobba on the front end, I bet you could mount the kannon/zzap gun on that platform.

Sprue looks good with a proper def rolla. Guess they're saving plastic rokkits for the buggy release? Was really hoping to see a couple of twin linked rokkits with mounts for going on the sides where the big shootas go. I've got plastic tubes proxying as rokkit launchers right now and it just doesn't look all that good.

Groovy- so i wonder how long before GW bring out the FAQ with whether or not you can use your deff rolla on vehicles! I imagine when they need a boost in sales it'll be "Yes you can use it on vehicles", que me rushing out to buy 4x sprues!!!

I honestly feel that this sprue should have been in the box from the beginning. But none the less I will pick up at least 2 of them in time. The Killkannon is the only thing I find a little lack luster. It should have had its own mount so that you can use the big turret with the other weapons, or the other weapons need a smaller turret.

Honestly? I agree that this should have been in the Battlewagon box from the start. I also think that the Ork vehicle kits should have included ALL of their upgrade options (c'mon, no Rokkit Launchas?!?) as well.
That said, though, I'm am glad that this is getting released. Hopefully they'll follow this up with other Orky upgrade packs (there's at least one IG pack coming soon as well), It'd be nice to have a plastic Rokkit Launcha vehicle upgrade kit that's designed with the Trukk and Battlewagon in mind so we don't have to do a bunch of conversions for each of our vehicles.

"Sales are down two percent, Tom. Have the lads make another ork release." "But Bob, we have all of these other races waiting for revisions, and there's a ton of things we could be--" "Ork stuff sells. Do it or you're fired." "Fine.... dick." "What?" "Nothing."

Orks have had good model releases a long time coming. We still have a few kits dating back to Gorkamorka, 2 waves of releases later. You're also mistaken to think it would have taken so much resources for this tiny release that it would have delayed any other new releases for other armies.

There is a number of new Plastic sprue plates they can make a year due to the effort, materials, time and cost that it takes.
But then again, considering that there is no DE, Necrons, GK or SoB planned for this side of the next two years I don't think it matters much as nothing else will really require any new plastic kits.

Well, considering that this sprue has been promised to ork players since the day the battlewagon was released, I'd say it's about time they put it up for purchase.
Azzy

Don't let reality get in the way of your whining. This sprue was designed at the same time as the rest of the Battlewagon and has awaiting release since then (it was first announced as a future release in January's WD). It should have been included in the Battlewagon kit, but apparently GW had other plans.

Oh, I love this year because its been nothing but orks and imperial, this has meant iv saved a LOT of money. Always look at the positives. I nearly have enough money to pay sculptors to make models for 40k I do actually like!

Well, the follow-up Incoming article is up on GW's site with a larger picture of both the Battlewagon and the sprue. The picture of the sprue is especially nice, as there is no shadow and the details are much, much clearer. http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?at...
