Bell of Lost Souls: 40K NEWS: Planetary Empires, Battlescape Advance Order

  • Engelus · 4 months ago
something I have always been confused on.

can a single squad or multiple squads of an entire platoon choose to stay in reserve or outflank? or must the entire platoon do so?
  • ben · 4 months ago
    Wrong topic I think.

But, per the rules of the IG platoon, it rolls for reserves as a whole. It's all or nothing.
  • Engelus · 4 months ago
thanks, and yes, wrong topic, how this ended up here, I shall never know.

that is absurd. may god have mercy on the soul who tries to assemble all of that. esp those drop pods...
  • Kwhale · 4 months ago
It's listed as out of stock.
  • Khorneguy · 4 months ago
I'm confused, the blastscape is billed as released this month in WD and looks different to this.
  • MeanAngel · 4 months ago
Read carefully, this is BATTLEscape... yes, different from BLASTscape aka new set of craters that's just being released.
  • Tzeentchguy · 4 months ago
Khorne guys aren't known for reading carefully...
  • Nurgleguy · 4 months ago
and Tzeentch guys are notorious for reading things they shouldnt.
  • SlaaneshGuy · 4 months ago
    You busy tonight, hottie?
  • Nurgleguy · 4 months ago
yes, I have to spend the night not washing my hair.

Just a mini review on the release of the mines and bombs limited resin kit. It came in as part of the Planetstrike release and I picked one up. For $20.00 it was a real bargain, I thought. Its all in tubs (like the hero basing kit) with a bunch of 50mm bases. The detail is a lot better than the pix in WD showed. You get a lot ofr your buck, so I think its pretty cool. As to the Planetstrike book. Lots of pretty pictures. Lots and lots. I wish they had a modeling section though: I'd like to know how they did a couple of those buildings.

Can anyone give a quick overview of how planetary empires (or its fantasy equivalent) works? Ive never tried it but it seems like it could be cool.
  • PsiOmega · 4 months ago
Brief as always but this GW article might be of some interest: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/artic...

Is there a release date listed for Planetary Empires? Or am I just blind as someone who had a lasgun shined in their eyes?
  • Soundwave · 4 months ago
I might just be a grumpy and cynical Brit here, but why are GW, a British company, releasing Planetstrike on Independence Day? Kick in the teeth for the loyalists ;) haha
  • Gustav · 4 months ago
No you don't understand...we "gave" them independence a few hundred years ago to lull them into a false sense of security...then we created GW and made thousands of them become addicted to our toys and mail millions of US dollars over to Britain...the plan is coming together nicely...

And you forgot that we also burned down the original White House...
  • Hamish · 4 months ago
Try and do it again... :)
  • an mous · 4 months ago
We could do it on Tuesday. Everyone in America will be at the Staples Center. I saw it on TMZ.

Watch out you might get what you're after
Cool baby strange but not a stranger
    I'm an ordinary guy
    Burning down the house

Hold tight wait 'til the party's over
Hold tight we're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
    Burning down the house

Here's your ticket pack your bag; time for jumpin' overboard
    Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far, maybe you know where you are
    Fightin' fire with fire

All wet yeah you might need a raincoat
Shakedown thieves walking in broad daylight
    Three hundred sixty five degrees
    Burning down the house

It was once upon a place sometimes I listen to myself
    Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work say baby what did you expect
    Gonna burst into flame

My house S'out of the ordinary
That's right Don't want to hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
    Burning down the house

No visible means of support and you have not seen nothing yet
    Everything's stuck together
I don't know what you expect staring into the TV set
    Fighting fire with fire

    Burning down the house
  • Soundwave · 4 months ago
Yeah, the war of 1812. Good times. Although I don't think that was the first White House was it? Wasn't it in Philly at one point?
  • Mike X · 4 months ago
Actually, it's definitely not an intelligent idea in America. Since most hobby shops are family-owned, rather than big franchises, most gaming stores that will carry any of these products will be closed tomorrow, or have severely limited hours.

GW is kicking themselves in the ass with this move...
  • Soundwave · 4 months ago
Yeah I guess it's akin to releasing something on Bank Holiday here. Maybe they're only thinking of their own stores raking in the cash as the independents will be closed. Which I doubt they will since you guys get such a raw deal with official stores over there.

    More "Made in China" crap.

Anyone else think the buried front of the Rhino looks wrong? Seems to me that if a blast buried the Rhino, as evidenced by the craters, then there wouldn't be a dead tree that close. Even if the tree wasn't there is still is too far buried on the front corner compared to the other front corner which for some reason is at table level with no modeled terrain under it.
  • Mike X · 4 months ago
You mean like how the Rhino was apparently starting to dive under the tree?

I don't like the battlescape much either, there's too much wrong with it.

Undamaged (albeit dead) trees beside blast craters? A Rhino that was apparently subterranean?

It's too busy. Everything's clustered together. Too much packed into too small of a space.
  • Myu · 4 months ago
Convert the trees to smoke, then it's all good.
  • xNickBaranx · 4 months ago
I will probably buy the Battlescape and remove the rhino portion from the rest. Or I might just remove the trees. Its got some cool conversion potential if you ask me.
  • ShadowDemon · 4 months ago
Anyone notice that the imperial bastion is $25 and the chaos bastion is $45 on GW's website?
  • MaskedThespian · 4 months ago
That's because the Chaos Bastion kit includes 2 $9 Chaos Tank Sprues to upgrade the $30 Imperial Bastion. It's actually a slight saving.
  • Bucho · 4 months ago
If I cut the rhino free to use on its own, it might make a nice ruined vehicle marker for my marines.

As long as it doesn't cost more than a rhino does, it should be all sweet. ;-)
