Let's work out the math.

GW Sells a product to retailers at 45% off. GW Profits = ~20% of retail

Retailer sells the product to customer at retail: FLGS profits: 45% of retail

customer sells product on Ebay. Low supply and high demand return 200% of retail. Customer Profits = 100% of retail.

So tell me, how is it that GW and teh FLGS benefit over the reseller in this model?

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

I Think You'll Find the Profits go to the shareholders like myself in the company not to average joe worker.

That's How Business Works My Friend And Clearly You Haven't Got A Clue.

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Space Hulk Shortages are really pissing me off. I was just told by my distributor that my pre-order of 20 boxes was dropped to 2-3 boxes...

What was GW thinking? How does this do anything but push eBay sales? It hurts them, it hurts FLGS!

I continued my rant here...

http://www.3sdgames.com/ium...

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Are GW going to support this with any future releases?

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Played it today at leamington store. Unless they're lying about their ability to afford GW's price and should therefore STFU, of course...

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

*Angels

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

honestly, the only 2 things that i am going to do with my space hulk is:
play space hulk
use the termies as part of the ba 1st company army im building

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

I just returned home from visiting GW Copenhagen, where they were breaking open their store copy as I walked into the shop. So I got to see a bit of the box content, and actually hedl the sprues in my hand. I could hardly stop drueling. There are 2 sergeants, with thunder hammer & storm shield, and Power weapon & Storm Bolter. One Psycher who has 3 powers and 20 psi points, whatever they are. And 9 Termies each with their own stuff. I counted an assault cannon, a heavy flamer, a chain fist, a storm bolter with targeter, a storm bolter with a wing ornament, a pair of lightning claws and a knealing termie tearing up the floor. So keep your eyes pealed on the GW website, as they release more pics every day. And by the way the Brood lord is BIG, and Hard to Kill.
Also like the little CAT model. A roaming objective on tracks. aparently it used to be a counter in the old days

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Thomas did build 4 buildings, pretty quickly. I built one. I did prime everything and base coat the board. I have been looking through magazines and booksfor ideas for painting the buildings. I have been getting rid of some junk to make room for a table. And I need to get a table figured out, I have a friend who can help build a table. I will bring that dreadnaught, (it has an ASSAULT CANNON and POWERFIST/STORM BOLTER I believe!) probably Friday or Saturday!

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Everything else was blood angels?

Um, dude... The minis are the same size as the rest of the 40k line. Genestealers get two identical sprues plue one more with the broodlord and dead Space Marine. The Space Marines get two different sprues, the smaller one having the Librarian and the CAT. The rules book is pretty simplistic, although there are rules on jamming your storm bolter and reloading the assault cannon. The mission book gives a detailed history of the Blood Angels, a thumbnail history of each of the Space Marines (including why two of the regular terminators have assault termie weapons). One termie sargeant has a TH/SS.

The tiles were VERY DISAPPOINTING, but that was not unexpected

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

I'm sorry GW haters, but these guys are right. MIcrosoft or Blizzard can spend millions developing an xbox game or WoW but sell it cheap because they have a massive user base, Wizards of the Coast coast can sell Magic cards cheap because printing is not that expensive, Unfortunalty our hobby requires lots of investment and there are not that many consumers to spread that out amongst. Its a niche hobby and without marketing tricks its a hobby that is in danger of disappearing. Then we'd all be stuck fighting over those second hand minis on ebay until we all give up and find some other entertainment medium to spend our time on.

Space Hulk looks like fan service. Its only ever likely to be bought by nerds like us anyway, how many people do you know who went out and bough the world of warcraft board game or DOOM board game who weren't already gamers.

Its fan service form GW and a nice source of income to keep an at times almost bankrupt company going. The hype and limited edition ploy was a good way of making all those people who petitioned for this game actually buy it so GW don't loose money on it

Re: 40K NEWS: Space Hulk Arrives!

Hey Kelly!!!
How is your battle board? What's to feel bad about? They're happy. Either because they're going to enjoy playing the game, or selling it for mad profit on Ebay to others who will enjoy playing it for even MORE of a premium. There's nothing to feel bad about here.

Mike X (and apparently a slew of others) is utterly uninterested... so noted. Move along to something that *does* interest you.
