Bell of Lost Souls: 40K NEWS: Stompa, Up Close & Personal

  • Khorneguy · 10 months ago
wow. Love the pillot at the head hatch. It's little bit of attention to detail like that which make me wanna go out and spend £60 on a model.

    Roll on march!
  • Tim · 10 months ago
It looks like a great kit... thanks for the pictures...
  • fade_74 · 10 months ago
Yeah....thats pretty friggin awesome! I don't play orks...but i think I will buy one just to paint and display. Well....after I buy the new superheavy tank.
  • Forhekset · 10 months ago
    Just an off topic comment.

I love this hobby and I LOVE this website. Glad to see Dark Heresy getting some ink, we got a new book and it's alive and well. Also I'm not into Fantasy but I just saw the Mighty Empires expansion on the front page of the official website. I had no idea but that stuff sounds awesome (if it's more complex than just tiles and names).
  • Kyle Harkes · 10 months ago
I cannot wait for that to come out. Thanks for bringing us those pictures. Looks great.
  • Jholar · 10 months ago
Ive only seen the chaingun arm and the one chainsaw arm for the stompa. Is it coming with the parts to make all 3 variants that people are talking about or just the normal stompa
  • Jholar · 10 months ago
Not that I dont like the model at all, its a beaut' in every which way. Im just wonder if Im going to be building my own lifta-dropa. (my current Mekboy Stompa has a wonderful top score in Land Raider bowling)
  • MaxisLithium · 10 months ago
I have a sneeking suspission that we will see a Lifta Droppa in the full kit. The reality is that these are the demo models, which might not have included that sprue, or it may be a direct to order sprue like that of the Deff Rolla for the Battle Wagon.
  • The True Mooseman · 10 months ago
Maybe it'll be the same sprue as the deff rolla! Then we could make a mekboy speedsta with a lifta droppa on top out of the battle wagon! That would be genius.
  • crazyrpger · 10 months ago
Not that this isn't a cool model, but I'd like to see GW spend a bit more effort on something else. I even play orks and I'm saying that. In fact, half the fun of orks is scratchbuilding stuff. If they give us kits for everything, then some of the fun is actually taken away.
  • Stephen Strobel · 10 months ago
What the hell are you talking about if they give us a kit like this how much more fun with all those extra bits to use all over the place I love scratchbuilding stuff too I was thinking of buying the kit just to do that to have one kit and use parts from it to make two one a lifta droppa and then some other one not sure witch one yet but depending on how the kit is put together and even using some of those grots on my battle wagons and other of my meks creations, if only my necrons got this much loving from GW
  • Herald of Nurgle · 10 months ago
While I agree on the basic point of the post, I do quite like the kits simply for the base they give for the CRAZY SCRATCHBUILDING that goes ontop
  • RTM · 10 months ago
Nice photos, great useful way to help us analyze the kit and decide for ourselves! For me, the detailing is great, and it looks like a nice base kit to pull a lot of great bitz from. I envision a lot of true Orksies will be bashing the hell out of that kit to properly Orkify it with Kustomizashun, and it looks like that will match up pretty well with what we'll be adding and subtracting on our own.

I like the value of the newer plastic kits, with lots of extra weapons, parts, heads, etc. It helps enhance the hobby and personalization aspects of the game.

Thanks for the great pictures. Having just survived my wait for the battlewagons it will be a long wait for March. Anyway to confirm how tall the building is behind the stompa? Two sprues and a ruined wall or higher?
  • Kriegfreak · 10 months ago
Looks amazing. I really dig the driver with the cap on top.
  • Faolain · 10 months ago
I can see that Stegadon easily becoming a squiggoth. I really hope the other armies are going to get some plastic treatment. I heard there's a plastic Trygon in the works but who knows.
  • MarcusZ · 10 months ago
Although I would love to see a plastic Trygon, I would prefer getting plastic gargoyles at a more reasonable price than the current metal blisters...
  • Faolain · 10 months ago
That too. We'll probably have to wait a while before we hear anything about that.
  • chris · 10 months ago
I can't wait for the Stompa. I've thought long and hard a couple of times about scratch-building one and it makes my arthritic joints hurt just to THINK about popping out all the rivets it would require.
  • tzeentchling · 10 months ago
Is that a Stargate on top of the Stegadon?
  • MarcusZ · 10 months ago
hehe, I just wanted to point out the same thing :)
  • Moj · 10 months ago
I think it is probably an engine of the gods as mentioned in various article about the steg kit.
  • Herald of Nurgle · 10 months ago
Indeed. Engine of the Gods, with Skink Priest/Chief to accompany it
  • Mark D · 10 months ago
I'm impressed, just about every single piece has a whole heap of detailing on it, look at all the different styles of metal work and the badly cut out panels not to mention the huge rivets and girders on the back of the thing. Then there's the crew and the riggers, it's looking like a really great kit.
Digging that Stegadon as well, thinking of getting one for that instant stargate on it's back, lol.
  • sani · 10 months ago
these are by far amongst the most beautiful kits i've seen of a stompa. awesome.
  • Ridicule · 10 months ago
Looks almost excactly like the last pictures we got, but cool nontheless :)
  • sodcactus · 10 months ago
Hmmm, having the flamethrowers mounted so high up won't that seriously shorten the range of them as you have to put the template from the barrel of the flamethrower?
  • Khorneguy · 10 months ago
it probably uses the hellstorm template, although i can't remember off the topof my head. so it wouldn't matter too much
  • sodcactus · 10 months ago
Checked the Apo-book and they (Supa-skorcha) use only the ordinary Template which can (or must) be placed with the narrow end within 12" from the weapon. So that settles that I guess...
  • zaarin7 · 10 months ago
Are the arms a ball-and-socket design for posability?
  • Sathos · 10 months ago
For anyone wanting to know its size (the stompa) take the revious pic and zoom in until the ork boy in it is the same siz as the one in your hand.... i'd say this beast is about a foot tall give or take a coupla iinches
  • Madjob · 10 months ago
Clever Iron (cog) Halo on the Ork krew on top of the head. With Space Marine models becoming ever more extravagant, it's good to know GW still knows how to use the Orks to poke fun at other armies.
  • Herald of Nurgle · 10 months ago
Stegadon? I WUV the Engine of the Gods configuration... As well as Skink Priest and Chief
Stompa satisfies my urge for destruction
  • Dictator · 10 months ago
WIth every picture this thing looks better and better.
  • Adam Bloodlord Johnson-Eder · 10 months ago
damn the stompa is nice. i work at a GW partnership store in Madison. Wi and we got the black box for lizard men, and let me tell you their army book rocks, and the new models do too.
  • denzark · 10 months ago
Can't wait to kill my first stompa. Not sure about the kit, but reckon all those plates plus an old star wars AT-ST would make a good nurgle warhound.
  • chris · 10 months ago
I am now inspired with such a frenzy of modeling and converting mania that I may have to be sedated until all of the appropriate pieces are in my hands. Great idea!
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
Yes, I needs me some stompas. :)

It may take a while, but I plan to have at least three. :)
  • AR · 10 months ago
hmmm makes me wonder, could the plastic thunderhawks and titans be next?

id sure like em, and im sure im not the only one.....
  • Savark · 10 months ago
OMG how much (AUS$) will those boyz cost?
  • DAKKADAKKA · 10 months ago
looks like wot i just need to finish off my forth great gargant as i'm running low on spare parts.
