Bell of Lost Souls: 40K RUMOR: Plastic Daemon Prince?

  • duder · 5 months ago
pics of the demon prince above have been floating around on warseer for months, right now it's just a question of when they decide to release it, hopefully with the demons second wave
  • zimzamzabam · 5 months ago
they're actually pics from the latest chaos mortals rulebook in fantasy
  • solkan · 5 months ago
The Daemon Prince being in Planetstrike just means that the studio had a few copies lieing around. :'(

Show me a plastic seeker, horror or plaguebearer or daemonworld terrain and I'll believe that a second daemon wave exists.
  • YAAAARRGGGGHHH · 5 months ago
I agree, we've had pictures of the daemon prince for months but not a peep about anything else in the daemon range. My assumptions then are that plastic plague bearers, seekers, named characters, etc for daemons do not exist and if they will come into being it won't be for a long time.

I beg to differ. Think about it, Space Wolves are slated for release in September or thereabouts, and we have yet to see confirmed shots, even work in progress greens, of any of the rumoured goodies like wolf guard terminator upgrade sprues or anything of that ilk. So it seems that right now daemons second wave (models-wise at least) is more plausible than Space Puppies

There were already a few new SW releases a while back. Who's to say they won't just repackage the SW like they did the Cadians and Catachans?
  • Myu · 5 months ago
The new prince certainly looks better then the old grey one.

I wonder what the battle report will be like? I have high hopes after the awesome stuff in Apoc Reload
  • Cptn. Palladorus · 5 months ago
Sorry, but it just looks like a conversion based on the current metal DP to me, not the plastic one shown above.
  • Miami · 5 months ago
That's what I thought at first, too. But I think there are details on some of the parts that aren't on the metal daemon prince. That means that either it's something new or there's been seriously extensive green work done.

As others mentioned, GW is quite keen on releasing Daemon models that work for both 40K and Fantasy. The original pictures only point towards the fantasy version (in my opinion). Perhaps GW rushed the base model and a sprue geared towards the fantasy prince to get some pictures for the Mortals book, and has since been designing a sprue for a more 40K Daemon Prince, thus delaying it's release. It could easily explain why we saw pictures so long ago but as of yet there's no real news on a release.

Or it could just be my hopes and dreams. I was somewhat disappointed when I first saw the model, since I don't play fantasy. It's great, but not 40K. These new pictures, though... easy to convert to represent any god, looks VERY 40K.... I absolutely love it and hope it's real and not a conversion. I'm salivating already.
  • lolno · 5 months ago
Its the exact same leg position and considering GW's policy of releasing daemon kits that fit both 40k and fantasy it seems highly likely
  • bitey · 5 months ago
    its completely different legs though
  • lolno · 5 months ago
No they aren't, look closer, its the same legs painted a different color, the torso may have an extra plate of armor on it but the legs have the same plates covering the thighs and the same amount of toes.
  • crunchyjuice · 5 months ago
youre thinking that because it is red
  • nurgling6688 · 5 months ago
not this same old its a conversion or it the FW version thing. It is obviously different and way to clean to be a conversion, besides it is in the studios army's color scheme and obviously pro painted. The studio is not big on using conversions in their armies anymore.
  • Boom_Radley · 5 months ago
    Yeah... Unfortunately.
  • Tonelowke · 5 months ago
The horns are definitely different on the planetstrike one than the 2 heads of the plastic one...
  • UltramarineFan · 5 months ago
And it's a well known fact that it's illegal to have more than two different head types. Different horns doesn't indicate anything.
  • dabecs · 5 months ago
Yeah, check that out. That's a really nice font.

Anyone know what that font is?
  • Hwilam · 5 months ago
I think it's an in-house mod of Frutiger condensed...
  • Big Jim · 5 months ago
Wow, I now have high hopes for the plastic DP, being useful for 40K. The shoulder armor is not from the metal 40K DP. If you look closely the head is similar but different from the metal DP too.
  • Ignore Me · 5 months ago
He might have two bases, round and square.

He might have more than one choice for a head, more than one choice for weapons, and might be replacing more than just one metal miniature.

He might cost $5 more than his metal counterpart.

He might already be in production in Tennessee.

He might be standing behind you at this very moment.

Or you could just ignore me.
  • Fire_Warrior · 5 months ago
I will now remind everyone what i said earlier.
We should all be on the lookout for stuff hidden in that book, as we all know GW likes to put new things right in front of us without us noticing.
  • Myu · 5 months ago
    Oh I will, I will... <_< >_> O_O
  • Don Commodore de Montegonzi · 5 months ago
Well in my opinion it is quite obvious that de 40K DP on the PS-pictures uses the same legs as the Fantasy DP shown above. Furthermore the backpack and his posture look complete different than the metal model.

The plastic DP resembles the old metal one, but I think it there is a high chance that this is the same plastic-kit.
  • manton · 5 months ago
There's an interesting photo in the book that was picked up on another blog. It's a picture of ultramarines and orks with a battlewagon with a suspiciously different looking death roller (or whatever they call them). check it out
  • Kharkanov · 5 months ago
    Where??
  • Svartmetall · 5 months ago
The left hand on that DP looks very close to one of the Possessed left hands, just scaled up. Hmm. I'm hoping that's not a conversion but rather one of the options that can be made with parts in the plastic DP box itself.
  • WES · 5 months ago
The older grey painted pics are way too fantasy looking... the DP in the planetstrike book is obviously ascended from a chaos marine, with the armor, shoulder pads, and backpack. I like it, but I also like the older metal DP too. The older metal DP just looked like it was slow, shambling and ponderous (good for nurgle)... the newer plastic DP looks a lot more agile and active (better base for a khorne or slaanesh DP).

The legs shown in the planetstrike book are the same as the grey painted DP, but they might have minor resculpting. Sometimes they make a casting of one piece, and then add extra details before using it as the basis for a new casting. If you look at multiple versions of different figures, you'll see that they do this is a lot.

The kit is supposed to serve for both WHFB and WH40k I imagine, so no wonder it could be assembled to look like it has nothing to do with a Chaos Marine.
  • UltramarineFan · 5 months ago
'The older grey painted pics are way too fantasy looking...' it's mounted on a square base and is pictured in the Warriors of Chaos army book. The grey one is designed for fantasy.
  • ?? · 5 months ago
the guard in the 1st pic remind me of the ghostbusters
  • waffleman1 · 5 months ago
would the ironhalo bases be allowed in golden demon?
  • UltramarineFan · 5 months ago
Form looking at the photos I would say that it's a 40k plastic version of the fantasy plastic DP. The sculpts are so similar that they look like they've been done by the same the person, especially when it comes to how the legs are designed, they've both got the unusual articulation of the legs and also in the design of the tail which is nearly identical. Also it's similar to the current 40k DP but not the same, i.e. the hands and backpack look like they've been designed to be like the current one but they've got different proportions.
I'm putting my money on it being a plastic DP for 40k.
  • Damn-Lucky · 5 months ago
Looking carefully it's easy to see there the same modle with diffrent options.

What I want to know is, what will be the price? If the kit is that large with THAT MANY BITS then it will probably be abit pricey.

    O_____O
  • Rahveel · 5 months ago
    probably $35-45
  • Herald of Nurgle · 5 months ago
Well, i'll be damned (well, moreso)
    They've finally got a model I want!
  • Lucky Moniker · 5 months ago
GW always seems to have fun hiding new products in plain sight, look in the 5th ed rule book, you can see the Imperial Bastion under the terrain section.
so it wouldn't be far off to think this is the new 40k plastic Prince.
  • weeler · 5 months ago
Yes. Awesome, that is definitely a 40K version of the DP his hands are awesome looking. Perfect close combat weapons. He is going to rip shit apart. Damn, I love chaos. This makes me giddy.
  • JL · 5 months ago
99% sure its a new Tau model ;P
  • Colby · 5 months ago
    No its a LotR model!
  • Savark · 5 months ago
To me it looks like the current daemon prince, heavily converted with carnifex legs and tail
  • Ssyrie · 5 months ago
He doesn't look a thing like the current daemon prince mini. No armor, no backpack, and he's not hunched over. Not even close.

I thought he looked more like this old mini: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/produ...
  • insideprawn · 5 months ago
actually the plastic one has comfortably resided on the GW website for a couple months now. To see him you just need to use a computer that has no memory of ever visiting the site.
  • oni · 5 months ago
I say it's a conversion. A combination of the new plastic model and the current metal DP.
