40K RUMOR: Dark Eldar In The Can
Rift Knight
Old servitors and tech-priests.
Chaos Cultists -- wonderfully characterful, nice sculpts, and 1001 uses!
High Elf spearmen, archers and command sets -- leagues better than the current plastics in every respect
Last metal deamonettes
These would be my favourite old skool minis that I can think of right now.

It would be totally cool if they would just start their own bits service again. Youd think just based on factory rejects and stuff where one part is fouled they could ,ake a mint..i'm sure they just throw it away now.
Those old molds are bought and paid for why not use them. If they were profitable in 1990 (5 eldar aspects for $7.00) why would they not be now (1 aspect warrior $7.00)
Its not like GW to pass up a buck and plenty of other companies are making a killing selling bits. If GW did it on mass scale they could even pass the savings onto the consumer.....er....er..yeah right.
The cost of the molds is not what drives up the price of Metals is it the RAW MATERIALS check the Rapid rise in Raw Materials over the last 10 Years
I understand that there are companies that do it cheaper....but really GW should be able to do it cheaper that any of them. No cost for packaging, direct access to the product, overruns and slight rejects. No GW could do it cheaper, but they wont.
I remember when you could by bits by the pound.....by the pound.
And......wait for it........ARBITES PLEASE!!!! The old ones are vastly superior sculpts to the modern necromunda ones. They had more detail, more character, and better casting.
And how about Imperial robots, anyone remember those things. The Pre- Dreadnaugh. My group still has three that we proxy in for Sentinels for a laugh. I would vote Praetorians also but at 2 models for $15 or whatever they would be its still not a feasible army unless money is no object.
As for fantasy. I think Skaw the Falconer was a great model.

though still missing the captain
Enforcers ≠ Arbites, by fluff or models.
He's talking about the older Jes Goodwin sculpted ones. They are far and away better than the "Enforcers" from Necromunda, and the casting is of a much higher caliber (at least judging from the 30+ of each that I've got).
* Astartes Captain with Terminator Honours (went through two of these in the old days with incrementally-better paint jobs before hacksawing four minis together to make a custom Captain)
* 2nd Edition Land Speeder (standard and Ravenwing versions- the new ones never looked 'right' to me)
* Original Space Fleet Gothic-class Cruisers (they made great Astartes strike cruisers for BFG)
Yah like it would happen :P
Learn to spell, idiot.
I agree that (at least in wfb) the plural of dwarf is dwarfs, but dwarves is also an accepted spelling.
The only correct spelling for Chaos Dwarfs is Chaos Dwarfs. If the poster wanted a range reinstated they could bother to at least learn the name of that range.
The BoLS community have made it clear that they allow spelling errors to slide through sometimes - that is why we proof read for them. They are very responsive to emails regarding language errors.
You are THE lowest form to Forum troll. The one who says nothing but pick on spelling and that makes them feel SUPERIOR. YOU are a LOSER in the worst way.
Get a LIFE
I particularly like my techmarine on the jetbike waving a wrench. Whats he going to do with that? Loosen the nuts on some enemy vehicle?
Clubs and axes? Those have been part of 40k since forever and will continue to be part of the game. Ever seen an Ork slugga boy?
Orig Chaos termies
IG landspeeders/bikes
Marine Jetbikes
harliequin jetbikes
and squats?
(ducks)
That big fat dragon they showed in WD a few months back would be cool though. The one where you had to make your own wing membrane. My Dark Elves would become something to be truely feared.
Sister of Battle Banner Bearer
Sister of Battle Canoness
Metal Immolator turret.
Yeah, I'm set.
Confrontation tech gangers (I'm using them for something)
Original Rough Riders
Original Shokk Attack Gun
Boarboyz (and some current rules pleaz)
Original Metal Sentinals (Egg-shaped w/multilaser)
Female Commissars
Squats (to be used as "high gravity world" guard
SQUATS!
SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATS!!!!!!
But as to the old stormtroopers... You ever try making more than one unit of those? I wanted some before the new IG Codex was released... so I eBay-purchased quite a few. The sergeants are magnificent, the special/heavy weapons troops are good, but the plastics are awful. Because of the way the plastic arms are integrated, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to customize the regular troops. The result is a 2nd Edition-style clone army which looks horrible against modern multi-part (or even Black Reach) forces. I'd much rather see more a variety of beret heads as an option whenever they come up with a full-on plastic Stormtrooper set (assuming it happens before 6th edition...).
Put me down for an assortment of the armless Mk VI pewter marine poses and the turbofan jump packs. I kick myself in the butt almost daily for not buying the jump packs before the bitz cutoff... they're going for insane prices on eBay compared to the original dollar-each. And if they do that... or even if they don't... PLEASE let them figure out the need for a pack of pewter studded MKVI shoulderpads. Current plastic bitz sellers are throwing 75% of their tactical squad parts in the garbage, and making all their profit off that shoulderpad and a few other bits.
NO ORK STUFF. Sorry greenskin generals, but there's so much ork shit out there it's downright disgusting.
2) Khorne Daemon engine (it had two big wheels like carts, and carried a lash and axe, with two HB's built into the chassis)
I already have the daemon engine (which a friend is now using as a counts-as Daemon Price or Khorne dreadnought) but I always thought they looked really cool and would want to see more of them in games.
http://solegends.com/citcat9x3/c92402chaosspace...
What about the original RTB01 MkVI marines - or the matching guard box set?
I've been to lots of factories and there are always overruns and pieces with small mistakes....maybe one arm gets messed up on a sprue. No they could do it but they would rather you buy the entire box.
I'd like to see GW profit structure....where does all the money go, i understand that they are publicly traded now, but really are they must be paying their executives like US automanufacturers.
Solitaires, Harlequin Avatars/Great Harlequins, Harlequin Jetbikes.
Orks need those models with the guitars back, too. Orks iz made fer Rokkin'!
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/produ...
Also, check out this paintjob i found soemone did on one.
khorneguy.blogspot.com
Yes the old harliquins. In fact most any of the older jes goodwin stuff still holds up.
Just to annoy some people the old metal female space marines (yes i know thats not what they are)
Old marine jump packs.
The second set of land speeders...get rid of the bumper cars of death.
But really most of the new stuff really is better looking. I still use my old mk VI marines but i have to admit that the detailing on the new ones is just far better on most miniatures.
D.
Piscean Warrior !
SH Chaos Androids (perfect alternate necron models there)
4th/5th edtiion chaos dwarfs
..and probably more too..
My favorite was the Chaos Dwarf boar centaur war machine... it actually moved if you pushed it!
http://www.solegends.com/citrare/citadeptmech.htm
Duh
- the "armless" model of SM in MK3 Iron Armour (I'd really like to get hold of a handful of these for my DiY chapter's honour guard)...
- the Mechanicus Squat in power armour...
- a lot of old chaos models, like the 1994 (IIRC) model which had a 4 fingered, claw like Power Fist, or "Old school" Plague Marines and Khorne Berserkers...
- both cyboar heads...
- the Slaneshi titan's head for Epic...
- the whole range (well, that's 4 models) of Jes Goodwin Arbites...
- the 3 Jes Goodwin Space Wolf Scout Sergeants...
- the Iron Priest...
- and more...
Actually I have most of these models already, but since most of the plans I have for them include quite a bit of "cutting" I can't resign myself to risk models which I won't be able to find again easily...
and mebby the old vehicle acssesrioe sprue
Also:
- The old metal space marine kits (but with metal arms as well this time please, metal and plastic mixes are not that fun :-))
- Bugmans dwarves (don't comment on the spelling please), I have the box but more people should be allowed to enjoy it.
- Orc shaman on War wyvern (fantasy battle)
/M
Now, I'm stuck cause I can't get hold of any more and I need to build some attack bikes. I've been left to scavenge the exact bodies from plastics....which sucks because the plastic marines are bigger than the metal ones.
Also, the ironic thing is I LOVED the old Land Speeder which BoLS is using in the image for this thread. The new ones sucked for my army and I want to add some speeders but refuse to get anything but the old styles...unfortuanatly that means either paying £30-40 a pop on Ebay or just not having them...so far I've opted for not.
And yes!!! Lets have the BitZ range back!!! White Dwarf used to come out with the product code for every bit of every new model and a picture of those bits all in the back. If GW wants to pad out the mag even more they could start doing that again.
...But I don't really see the point in this. Half of the fun of rare old models is that they're old. And rare. I love my old techmarine and ork warboss, because people see them and they're like Wow! what an interesting old model!
Half the fun is finding these models on ebay for a couple of quid, stripping them, repainting them, sometimes repairing the and generally having the challenge of fitting them in with your army (Bigred, your preheresy landspeeders are a great example of this)
1) The last (not latest) Sicarius model. Makes a great Shrike stand-in, it's easy to remove the "U" and I'm too afraid to take mine out of the blister! Then again, I paid £45 for mine, so maybe not after all...
2) RTB01 - Beakie armies for the win! even better if GW release an updated version, or even just pewter version of the studded pads as someone already said.
3) Armour Through the Ages / Heresy era multi-part plastic upgrade spure - ala Black Templars / Space puppies. I know it's not a classic set, but how well would that sell? With all of the Pre-Heresy / Heresy Era armies springing up over the Internet in recent years and with the Horus Heresy books in full swing I really have to question why GW haven't done this already?
4) If 3 isn't viable (though it would REALLY sell!) Split the Armour Through the Ages set so you can buy individually.
There's an idea...
Old Bloodletters on new Juggernauts!
Anyone know where you can get them?
Also, 2nd ed Biovores and Zoanthropes. I love those things.
The Leman Russ primarch mini
Wulfen
Leman Russ Exterminator kit
did I mention Praetorians?
Another good side effect - cooling second hand prices!
perhaps finally GW are catching up with the modern age.
maybe if we are lucky they will digitize all there old moulds so that they can no longer simply be cracked and given up on.
If they added items every three months, and took orders/produced them for six months, they would have two "sets" of collector's minis at any given time. This would allow them to focus on fewer molds, and increase the volume of sales for the items in the current window. I think dividing things up into 8 or 12 groups would work - since it would bring things back into production every two or three years.
It would be easy to have all of the Man o' War minis available in one set, pimp them online (and in WD) for a few months, and then retire the molds for a few years. This is what Disney does with their movies on home video - releases them for a limited time, then pulls them for a few years. It allows them to maintain prices and demand, but not lose too much business to secondary sources (used and piracy).
Reasons
- they are planet/regiment neutral
- there aren't any rough riders currently in stores
- they are great models
Other things I would like more of would include:
the "classic" IG (Imperial Guard/Imperial Army) from the late 80s.
"Marauder" Orks - the ones that looked very Afrika Korps
The "Gothic Horror" (iirc) range would be great to see again, as well as some things like the "Orc villagers", and the 1987 Lord of the Rings minis - some of which were fantastic. It's not like they don't have the license.
If they could re-issue plastic kits, I'd dearly love to see:
The old IG plastics
The old Ork plastics
The old Squat plastics
The old Ork Battlewagon (I was having a hard time convincing some local players that there was an old plastic battlewagon)
The wheel plate/bolt on armor sprue from the old battlewagon (also featured in the Gorkamorka "Gubbins bag")
The RTB001 "beakie" marines
Other things on my list (such as Praetorians and Beret wearing Storm Troopers) would actually be done better by having a plastic head sprue made up (either GW or L&U League) to allow easier conversion of minis.
