Bell of Lost Souls: 40K RUMORS: Stompa Kit is Coming to Town

  • Miami · 1 year ago
    I WILL BUY TWENTY.
  • Miami · 1 year ago
Okay, that's an exaggeration. I like to work in proportions, and I don't have a lot of time to scratch build stuff. So it looks like I will have to hurry my arse up and get at least a Skullhamma to warrant a Stompa. And in order to feel comfortable with that, I'll need two or three battlewagons. And with those, I'll want a lot of looted wagons, which will mean more trukks! And then to balance my walkers I'll need at least two more deffdreds, which will mean six more kanz so that I have appropriate ratios...

I currently have three trukks, one looted wagon, one deffdred, and three kans. Not to mention I only have around 125 regular boyz! I need to apocalyze quick!

I need pictures of the model to believe it i'm afraid.

It does sound like a lot of fun though.
    : )
  • J · 1 year ago
They have already given us pictures of the model. Apocalypse Reloaded is very clear- the pictures of the multiple stompas, when compared with other pics, show that more than one stompa had the exact same chest patterns, as well as other telling pieces that are the duplicates.

I always find it ironic at how dubious GW players can be, especially when the company has outrightly shown you the material to begin with.
  • Jholar · 1 year ago
Its supposedly been delayed so much because they kept on re-doing the kit from the ground up in order to get it right. (which probably means that it may be a larger investment than the baneblade was)

Also a Forge-world flunkie accidently let slip at GDUK that there will be resin conversion kits for the stompa, Ill wait to see those before I get my stompa. Here is to having the greatest cardboard box of Bits that GW has ever produced
  • Zgurgar · 1 year ago
Now I don't know if I should buy some super heavy for my IG or start collecting some more orcs. The Stompa looks so cool. :-D
  • Mark D · 1 year ago
I don't play apocalypse but I'm really looking forward to this, should be a fun kit to build and kustomise.
  • Savark · 1 year ago
Wow i may have been wrong. OMG I WAS WRONG!!! THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!
    ;)
  • Grax · 1 year ago
I think you should still get 20 Stompaz Miami, whether you buy them or make them. It's would look awesome setting them up on the battlefield.

Hmmm, that setup is just too tempting.
  • squighound · 1 year ago
Oh dear. I'm a big ork fan, but stompas look aweful. They could be so cool if they looked like patched up titans, or even like huge mechanical soul-grinders, but rusty Mr Potato Heads? really?

    Misplaced.
  • Bulwark · 1 year ago
Hey, some of my favorite stompas are rusty Mr. Potatoheads ;)

    http://belloflostsouls.blogspot.com/2007/08/mr-potato-head-stompa.html
  • squighond · 1 year ago
Well, yeah, that one is great because it still retains the identity of the original model, but the builds they did for the apocalypse book look absolutely aweful - on a par on the ugly scale with the necron monolyth, and Gordon Brown.
  • faultie · 1 year ago
Monolith AND Gordon brown? Touché, sir.
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
    MY EYES!!
  • Algoroth · 1 year ago
We've got a fellow locally here that actually converted a couple Mr Potato heads for stompas, with surprisingly good results. I'll very probably get at least one to add to my mountain of on-the-sprue/still-in-shrink/must-someday-convert pile that my baneblades(skullhamma, tower of skulls) and incomplete armies live in
  • BrassScorpion · 1 year ago
Though I have no personal interest in Ork kits per se, I'm quite happy to see any new large kits from GW done in plastic after the Baneblade. I think it will be good for the hobby and good for Apocalypse. Hopefully, more large kits will be forthcoming because the nine Baneblades I have now just aren't enough large kits for me!

After the Stompa and Valkyrie, and maybe more Baneblade variants in plastic, I'd love to see a Thunderhawk and at least one large plastic Apocalypse type kit for every army in 40K. The Eldar, Tau, etc. need some big stuff too!
  • EthelCombat · 1 year ago
    Beautiful words.

How can you not love the bits and scale of the large kits?
  • Sildani · 1 year ago
Bear in mind that the pic shown displays SCRATCHBUILT Stompas and NOT the new plastic one.

I'm a fan. I was drowning in Imperial Apocalypse plastics, and GW threw a Xenos a mighty big, chewy bone! Well done lads!

Problem is, I play Eldar. Waiting for a plastic Revenant, so I can buy two. Are the birds even peeping about any Eldar plastics?
  • TheInnerGeek · 1 year ago
Nice to see the orks are getting some stompy love. While it's hard to believe they could make a stompa look cool, I bet a shiny nickle that they do just that!
  • Azzy · 1 year ago
I'm hoping. The concept art that was released into the wild quite a while back was pretty damned hip. So, if tey can come up with something like that, it'll be great.
  • Mark D · 1 year ago
Azzy, where be this concept art? The apocalypse book?
  • Azzy · 1 year ago
No, it was released on the web. Here's the picture: http://www.pbase.com/brimstone/image/62813521.jpg

Someone did an exceptional job scratchbuilding a stompa based on it, too: http://www.librarium-online.com/forums/painting...
  • Mark D · 1 year ago
    Ohh, that's really cool looking.
    Ta muchly. :)
  • squighond · 1 year ago
you see, now that is a lot cooler looking than the builds in the apocalypse book.
  • Azzy · 1 year ago
Must have a stompa!! Or maybe three. :)
  • Utan · 1 year ago
    Whazzat? A stompa!

This had better not be a tease again. If it doesn't show up this time, we'll have to send some of the boyz over to GW and stomp 'em flat!

    Where's me gubbinz?
  • Joe · 1 year ago
I'm curious what other large kits they'll attempt to take on. Rumor is that the Baneblade was much more successful than they anticipated. But, it's a kit that a lot of armies can use (all imperial, Chaos, even Orks can loot it). Stompa is only for one army. Will they do an Eldar super-heavy? Tau? I think it makes sense to do a 'single-army' big kit for orks first, since it'd probably sell the best. Thunderhawk would probably sell better (it's marines, and can be loyalist or evil).

Now, if they'd just do a Warhound Titan in plastic......
  • BrassScorpion · 1 year ago
When Apocalypse was released, Forge World Titans started selling as fast in one week as they sold in a whole month before Apocalypse. They continue to sell at a brisk pace thanks to Apocalypse in spite of the extreme cost, time and skill necessary to assemble them. A plastic one that was easier to assemble and significantly cheaper than the FW version would fly off shelves for sure.

I own one FW Titan, the Chaos Warhound, as a show piece, but it's really too fragile and expensive for gaming. If there was a plastic version I'd have at least four of them, two for my Imperials and two for my Chaos forces and they'd be traveling to the Battle Bunker for games all the time!
  • SecondrateSaint · 1 year ago
    Dead stompy.
  • mtd · 1 year ago
I thought the big seam on the Goff Claw Stompa was curious but I hope they go with something else.
  • OZZYTHELEGEND66 · 1 year ago
Should be cool but not exactly the first thing I would want from GW. Bring on the plastic Thunderhawk!
  • Bigred · 1 year ago
I'm just happy to see the expansion of the Apocalypse kits to cover a xenos race. That is basicaly a vote of confidence for the whole Apoc range from GW.

I have my fingers crossed for the Eldar, because either an Revenant, Scorpion, or any flyer would be impossible for me to resist.

Here here, Im always scared to bring out my Rev... Crazy game-store-kids-and-their-wanting-to-touch-everytihing-ness.
  • Romorini · 1 year ago
Apocalypse is one of GW's best ideas in a decade. It vastly expands what many gamer's true definition of a 'complete army' is. It's a massive carrot for people like me to collect an army well past the 2000 point mark. Some Specific examples:

I know that I am going to buy at least two more Tyranid warrior boxes since Reload came out just for the Eye of the Hive battle formation alone. I just need to assemble the two boxes sitting on my 'to do' shelf first.

If they came out with a plastic Trygon I would jump on it and then buy six raveners to round out that battle formation. I'm really crossing my fingers that you Greenskin enthusiasts shell out enough to get some plastic superheavies out for the other xenos scum.
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
Price will decide it for me
  • Herald of Nurgle · 1 year ago
I personally cannot wait until GW finally realise what everyone wants - A plastic Greater daemon set or 4
  • slovak · 1 year ago
I'd settle for a Lost and Damned list.
  • Herald of Nurgle · 1 year ago
I'm actually making my own minidex for Lost and the Damned. Its being playtested this weekend at local GW
Thanks BoLS for making the Minidex Tutorial =)
  • Sixsystems · 1 year ago
I'd quite like it if GW releases a plastic Warboss model that isn't in a starter box. As much as I love AoBR, and I really do love it, I'm waiting for a full kit of a plastic Warboss and retinue with all the options (and by all I mean powerclaws for everyone).

And, naturally, plastic Greater Daemons... :)
  • Hatchett · 1 year ago
Did you say PLASTIC GREATER DAEMONS!!!??
Like the Daemon Prince thread, why not throw in a bunch of threats and obscenities to the mix, only bigger, because they're greater...
Joke. They'll never do it. After all, they just marked up the price for the fourth time, since I've been playing, on models they cast thirteen years ago.
Why ruin a perfectly good racket? I mean, "thing"?
  • Madjob · 1 year ago
Mmm, yes please. I doubt they'd do a full retinue box, but I have been wanting a plastic Warboss very badly, and the AoBR one just doesn't do it for me. Needs Mega-armor and bike options included, as well as a variety of heads and torsos for flavor.
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
A plastic warboss would be nice but I'm happy converting my metal one to have a powerclaw(using a spare from the boys box)
  • chumbalaya · 1 year ago
    Plastic Stompa?!!

I instantly forgive GW for ruining the Dark Angels
  • happy slappy grot · 1 year ago
    Tits or GTFO
  • Sam · 1 year ago
    Hey
    Kind of unrelated
About the IG codex, and the SM codex, which i have not had the chance to look through.
What is the word on allied Witch Hunters?
    Has that changed at all?
I assume it has not because the Allies rules are in the Witch Hunters codex, but i was wondering if anyone has more concrete info.
  • BrassScorpion · 1 year ago
Check out this bit about the Stompa and the plastic SHADOWSWORD:

  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
    Only £60!
I want five!(budget, sadly, only allows me to maybe get one)
  • Mark D · 1 year ago
Very please with that price, I was fearing that it'd more then the Baneblade!
  • sicarius · 1 year ago
only one problem- i collect imperial AND ork! what do i get first, stompa or stormlord? must be the stompa, i already have two baneblades!
  • lincoln wyatt · 1 year ago
    interesting, i wonder if either a plastic warhound titan, revenanent titan, or even a knight titan would be possible to release? {don't mention the larger titan classes, please, as it would be mucho expensivioso, not even an imperiator titan }

Why oh why, March is still so far away...
