The gun seems to be seperate to the turret attachment, so rather than fiddling you can just magnetise the end of the turret to the moving part.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

i thought it was bad to make a diffrent version but it looks great so i don't mind , bye bye old hellhound you have still a spot between the honour guard of the imperial guard

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

Having built a few of these things now, it'd be very easy to switch between Shadowsword and Banesword. It'd also be easy to switch beteen Stormsword, Doomhammer and Banehammer. All those just require different barrels.

Further switching is possible, but would take more preparation.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I'm holding one of my chimera's and looking at the hellhound pic, the turret & fuel drum has changed from the old hellhound as expected but what surprising me is the hull shape has changed.
The the drivers section is now sticking beyond the tracks (yet the hull-gun looks like its in the same position), and the back section is more detailed on the side and is sloped at the rear. Other than the new, thinner, more detailed side armor, the track sections look exactly the same; what I'm thinking is that its actually built on the old chimera chassis with just a new roof section (basically like the way they did the basilisk). I bet most of the kit is exactly the same as the old one including the same dozer blade, tow cable, etc sprue.
This i don't see as a bad thing, the turret & fuel sections where the only things that needed changing.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I actually prefer the new variant over the old. It's much more subtle and looks a whole lot better protected. The old version is fine, but I prefer the new one

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

these look ok, better than the old, not as good as the FW ones.

too bad they are going to be like $50, cant afford em

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I like the new art style of the turrets. But I'd stick with the original turret gun, but the Multi-mealta is a great addition as then it can kill just about anything...

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I like the new turret and hatch.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

Not a hard conversion though.

I've been cutting the side 'boxes' on my chimeras in half (sagitally) for the last couple years to reduce their profile a bit, it's an easy fix with a small hacksaw.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

It's funny, as I was just talking to my friend today about how I was holding off on buying the Hellhound until the plastic kit came out, and now I see this! Reminds me of the awesome Forgeworld Hellhounds, which I was considering buying as well.

Nice job GW!

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I'm very happy with the look and with the apparent ease of barrel swapping,

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

But, looking at the "giant gap" on the barrel, one can see how easy it will be to switch the different weapons, since all three images are of the exact SAME model (note the weathering).

ROFL, the turret “still” cannot traverse all the way around without shooting the rear of the hull, just like the old model, LOL, at least they left that as an omage to the old model designer.

Nice shot of the parts they actually changed BTW (tanks), oh wait, they trying to build anticipation, right...

I do like the more "modern," less cartoonish look.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

I fully agree with you. When they released info about this one, they said it'd be better looking then the FW variants... which I don't see. Still a LOT better then the old one with its tiny gimpy promethium tanks. I may get a couple for the variants, but I already have 3 FW models so... yeah.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

they look awful i understand that its built off a chimera STC but come on GW put some actual work or better yet let FW make the Banewolf Variation. . . come to think about it. its much like there reused art GW will make lowest amount of effort of creativity.

Re: 40K SNEAK PEEK: Plastic Hellhound

Spanish Games Day hasn't started yet, still about 9 hours to go til doors open.
