I started playing with wolves back in 3rd ed,and I gotta say
Canis is one of the ugliest goofiest and just plain dumb
models I have ever seen. better conversions by autistic 6 year olds
by the way,the wolf pack and terminator bitz are SUPER BADASS!!

But doubling 270 isn't 300-400pts, it's 540. I don't know what you are invisioning Bjorn doing, but its just not worth that much. 270 seems fine to me, maybe even a little overpriced.

I think that all the new SW minis are fantastic they capture the essence of the army and are finely detailed. plus canis wolfborn is like a rough rider in that he has a cybernetic link to his wolf allowing him to ride and use wolf claws

Alot of people seem quick to throw the cheddar in the air for these guys. Yes they seem over the top but I highly doubt they will dominate the tourny scene. Smaller armies that are all troop bases with high prices are going to get murdered by lash spam...

PS... I'm not diggin the models all that much either. This really does have a "quick release" codex feel to it. Almost like a filler. Hopefully things will shape up a bit when they come out.

I don't think they will be "Uber-winnerz" either, but I do think they will be much more powerful than Daemonhunters. What Daemonhunters lacked was "Force multipliers". The rumors for Space Wolves suggest that they have these in abundance. Note all of the rules that give more attacks to a charging unit. So it may not matter as much if the army is small.

I don't understand why anyone would be repainting their minis, especially if they have dark angels. Just think about it. Blood claws will be good for initiates, Canis will be a great ravening equivalent or better yet a cyber-steed mount, those death-wings can make an appearance as a troops choice when the dark angel character __________ (insert name here) arrives using Grimnar's stats, a righteous librarian power that only could be taught by the watchers in the dark will send people flying in battle etc. And best of all the dark angels colors will keep the look of the tables to come diverse as well as prepared for the next DA codex.
Also I think that chaos hounds (fenerisian wolves) have been reported as an anomaly being lead by a great Khornate leader mounted on a tremendous juggernaut of khorne was seen leading a pack of well equipped juggernaut riders into battle also. Hummmm also I think that Ragnar would be a great substitute for a Kharn model who whips people into a frenzy and stuff! The only problem with this is that fluff wise a Khorne army wouldn't have a psycher, but it is a good thing that rune priests are not required in the army! Also a crazed dreadnought being protected by khorn and the powers of the warp could explain how 13 av and 5+ inv saves are found on a corpse tank

BTW I find the new minis awful and ridiculous. Avoid the dullness of SM is one thing, producing "masters of the univers" like minis for 5 years children is quite another.

There goes any temptation to do a SW army.

When i was a lad the only difference between my Space Wolves and my Crimson Fists was the colour of their armour..Rogue Trader ... so im glad they got some distinguishing characteristic in their first real army list ( a white dwarf update).. and yeah I think they did need a new codex.. just to neaten up the 5th edition rules. But is it realy neccesary to make them uber hard and outnumbered??? im always outnumbered now..rarely use half my force because its too expensive ... I was hoping for a codex that balanced the army against other codex's..god damned chaos always shoots the crap out of me then unloads berserkers on me ... although until the codex is in my paws I shouldnt judge...but i cant beleive that WOLF..thing..(my little prancing wolf pony)..not good GW. The pack box looks like a converters dream and some of those heads will need it...Termies I think are good though ive already maxed out on Forgeworld ones.. lucan is just plain camp?? Njal is awesome...Cant wait to see Ragnar, Logan abd Ulrik.. though got to admit I,m now extremely worried. Been a long time coming GW so far not worth the wait..Sorry!

Well I've been at the hobby 17 years too (lol) and I too love the old imagery, and funky punk-fantasy designs of yore, however, the Space Wolves have evolved since then. I have no problem with a terminator riding a giant cybernetic wolf, however, I would rather brooding menace, than warhammer fantasy on ice.
