Bell of Lost Souls: 40K/WFB RUMORS: Latest Whispers

  • jahred · 4 months ago
Christ, it makes me sad that as soon as a rumour emerges, everyone starts taking it as the Gospel. Seriously, until there is concrete proof that Chaos Dwarfs will be made by FW, stop whining. It just makes you look really pitiful.

I'm looking forward to the possibility of plastic plaguebearers.
  • Chaosgerbil · 4 months ago
No plastic Horrors? They are one of my favorite models except that they're metal, thus expensive and hard to work with.
  • Brian · 4 months ago
I've been holding back any further purchases for my daemon army until I could get this prince kit... i'm sooooo excited.
  • Rushputin · 4 months ago
    Same here.
  • minus67 · 4 months ago
having Chaos Dwarves be made entirely by FW is incredibly lame
  • doomscape · 4 months ago
I'd be very surprised if FW picked up the Chaos Dwarf range. Doesn't seem terribly profitable or productive, unless they're going to charge a reasonable price for once.
  • NecronAdam · 4 months ago
Doubt it highly. Also it doesn't matter if they charge a reasonable price for people living on the wrong side of the Atlantic. It's still going to be terribly costly. Of course these are still rumors but with the way GW has been looking out for its customers it would appear that they will do it.
  • SinisterRobot · 4 months ago
as long as their book comes out like a regular book im all for it.
  • AnthG · 4 months ago
Given the planned launch of the new "WFB" ForgeWorld Sister company, this looks like a smart move. One of many "to be" answered questions is will they make sensible box and army sets like they do for GW as normal? There is always a lot of noise around Chaos Dwarfs - but is there really going to be enough uptake to make it a mainstream product? My guess would be that GW got burned on Ogres and are exercising sensible caution here. Examples would be those items that started as FW pieces - Baneblade etc that we were prepared to pay a premium for or made enough "oh and ahh" and give me cheaper versions of noises that helped them to achieve the volume to make the product economical.

From my side I say good luck.

Oh boy, Oh boy... the one army I have been waiting on for years is to be a f***ing resin only army from one of the most expensive companies on this planet with little quality control whilst one of the least needed army updates are to come before any other 3rd edition army gets even a peek in sideways.

Daemons are the only ray of hope from these rumours and that's what? A year and a half late now?

"Chaos Daemon 2nd Wave is coming soon:
    -Daemon Prince kit"

    FINALLY!

    *dances*
  • Syderwarp · 4 months ago
uhh those steeds of Slaneesh I hope will be better than the last crap, They were not better than the metal ones, and Impossible to glue, and noway magnet or pin them. They suxed I have 2 boxes of 5th/Plastic I would rather have the old metal,or even 2nd edition than the new ones, I will be angry if the steed are made cheap/poorly thought out!!!!!!!
  • mordiano · 4 months ago
did deamonettes on steeds come out in plastic??? ..did i miss something here??
  • LEGION3000 · 4 months ago
I think he is talking about the daemonettes on foot kit. The latest incarnation look a fair bit crappier than the nice "sexually explicit" metal models from a few years ago.
  • mordiano · 4 months ago
    Ahhh...

Then I understand and completly agree..

1st gen where understated, very chaotic and cool
2nd gen had theese extrmly big claws and tongous.. not cool!!
3rd where the last metal ones... the best id say. As i understod it they where to "sexy" to be retained as blueprints for the next gen which was..
    The plastic ones!!

Unfortunatley im pretty sure they will be made to match the plastics on foot though...
  • Syderwarp · 4 months ago
that's the rumor, posted at the top. We'll wait see if it's crap,or searching on ebay for the old ones.
  • Commisar_Xi · 4 months ago
Fiends of Slaanesh I bet. They suck balls
  • Anon · 4 months ago
Let me guess, you use super glue on plastic models don't you?

Assuming I'm right, try using plastic glue on plastic models. You'll get a much better bond, and it's worlds easier to put them together.
  • asymmetricalxeno · 4 months ago
urgh, they better frackin' release a Tzeentch horror command group. Thats all I want, but it seems GW hate tzeentch because their the only daemons that actually look good (bar the lord of change of course).
  • crunchyjuice · 4 months ago
the lord of change is the sickest greater daemon of the range
  • PlasmaCow · 4 months ago
a thought regarding 2nd wave Daemons and the apparent lack of Tzeentch(again):
GW has stated earlier this year that they can only produce ~30 new plastic sprues per year - has anyone counted the number released so far this year?
  • LordSandwich · 4 months ago
My hopes and dreams for a CD army were just squashed flat. Not only are they going to be quite a bit more expensive, but everything has to be ordered (so I can't just pop down to my LGS) and they're FW, meaning not 100% GW sanctioned, meaning my group won't play with them.

    This is terrible.
  • Big J · 4 months ago
Then your group is full of retards. Find a new group of people that don't suck.
  • fiend · 4 months ago
"not 100% GW sanctioned, meaning my group won't play with them."

    You need a new group.

Even the GW stores and tournaments let you play with FW stuff...
  • Mike X · 4 months ago
CD = Chaos Dwarfs and Chaos Daemons
  • hank_scorpio1 · 4 months ago
I have a decent collection of orig. CD metal models I have been pondering putting up for sale if anyone might be interested.
  • kaptinscuzgob · 4 months ago
If FW are gonna do Chaos Dwarfs, it might mean theyll start doing the Fantasy equivelant of the Imperial Armour books.
  • LEGION3000 · 4 months ago
Chaos dwarfs going to FW seems like GW trying to appease its fans by saying "You wanted them so bad, fine, now you gotta pay out the ass for them. Neener neener"

As far as tzeench not getting new models, I am ok with that. IMO they have some of the best looking and characterful models of all the daemons. I just wish Pink horrors split into blue horrors like back in the day.
  • Myu · 4 months ago
"now you gotta pay out the ass for them. Neener neener""

I thought we did that with regular GW stuff? :P
  • wkz · 4 months ago
Nah. For GW stuff we only pay an arm and a leg.
  • jahred · 4 months ago
Christ, it makes me sad that as soon as a rumour emerges, everyone starts taking it as the Gospel. Seriously, until there is concrete proof that Chaos Dwarfs will be made by FW, stop whining. It just makes you look really pitiful.

  • SuperPedro · 4 months ago
And not all the FW stuff is resin, some is plastic. Have a little bit of faith. maybe if they're going to do an entire army line, they'll do it in plastic. And I'm sure any army book released will be from GW, so the gits in your local group with have to accept them.Jahred is right, it's kinda irritating to hear all this DOOM! DOOM! DOOM! everytime a rumour comes out. take a deep breath and realize that this is a game, and if you really want the minis you'll buy them up. save your pennies if you have to, and buy them all at once, so you get free express shipping. Relax
  • Anon · 4 months ago
    Um, what?

I've seen their resin stuff, their custom decals, and their brass etch sheets. I'm pretty familiar with all their stuff, and so far as I know, nothing they make now or have ever made was in plastic.
  • minipainter_sjw · 4 months ago
FW have basically already done an entire army line - Death Korps. They are certainly not plastic, and their "rulebook" is spread across a couple of Imperial Armour books at ~$60 each. No doubt their sculpts will look great, but if the rumour turns out to be true, Chaos Dwarfs will be a very rare (and extremely expensive) army indeed.
  • Anon · 4 months ago
Don't forget the Elysian drop troops army. It was the massive success of those models that led them to do the Death Korps.
  • renfield286 · 4 months ago
CD's are already a rare and expensive army, given that most people who have one has either converted it (a metric FTonne of £ on green stuff) or have brought it from the 'Bay

theres enough of a fan base to justify the release, and im sure that like the ogres, some of them will be available as dogs choices for other armies. meaning that GW can start making money of an army that people are still paying for, whilst doing it in a limited enough number to make it financially viable (how many mammoths or thunderhawk gunships do you think are out there?).

that's if these rumours are true of course.
  • PenelopeTheWonderPony · 4 months ago
    Awww, no new Ork stuff?
  • Darxaan · 4 months ago
    Yay daemons 2nd wave!
Seekers and 'princes would make nice additions to my army,
  • whitestar333 · 4 months ago
Tyranids are due out in March. Some changes include 10 'man' boxes of gaunts (maybe new models) and recut/new warrior models and a plastic Hive Tyrant model.
  • el_hangman · 4 months ago
Where did you get this info from? The only part of this I have actually seen elsewhere is the plastic tyrant...never heard anything about the warriors or 10 man gaunt box
  • morstao · 4 months ago
Daemon Prince yes. The daemonettes on steeds, cool. Not so interested in Nurgle, but that's me. But, I'd really like plastic horrors. I'd really like plastic horrors.

I wouldn't be suprised if the reason for no plastic horrors is profit margin. A large number of horrors count as some pretty potent mages in WFB, and as the only real ranged unit for 40K, and really good at it, they're very desirable.
  • BittenByDesign · 4 months ago
the lack of horrors and flamers is a pain, but a lot of people are using the wood elf dryads? to count as them for now.

It could be just that they are a difficult design prospect. Keeping the variable dynamic style might be a bit hard in multipart.

I would LOVE to be able to add a few units into my thousand sons army, but for now, I await the plastic horrors (which were promised ages ago) and the new Legions book along with all the plastic goodies that it brings for my thousand sons.
  • Commisar_Xi · 4 months ago
First: Chaos Dwarfs. Spell it right while you bitch.

Second: I doubt that this new split off company would even come to existence with out a firm demand for it. This company producing Chaos Dwarfs is a good thing all around. FW also owns the rights to WH Ancient Battles, which hopefully will move over to this new company.
  • Myu · 4 months ago
    "WH Ancient Battles"? What's that?
  • Inquisitor Hate Machine · 4 months ago
GWs "Historical" line of rules and books... its kinda neat
  • Terran_Forge · 4 months ago
YESS! It makes my all Nurgle Demon army more financially feasible! Wootsauce!
  • Muskie · 4 months ago
Plastic Nurglings... I so wish I could use them in the Diseased Sons. They are expensive metal models. I got about a dozen stands now and mine are pretty thick...

It'll be cool if this comes to pass. As for Plastic Plaguebearers... I got so many I'm unlikely to invest heavily unless I can use them in my Millitia. I gotta have 30 plus painted metal ones...
  • John M Zimmerman · 4 months ago
i'm glad that the chaos dwarfs are coming back. and i await the 2nd wave of daemons (i REALLY need more seekers!!).
  • too · 4 months ago
I knew it. I knew it couldn't true. Well. So much for affording those CDs.
  • MascisMan · 4 months ago
man can't wait for the Plaguebearer/Nurgling kit!
  • duskraider · 4 months ago
I really wish we'd get a definite on when the 2nd wave of Daemons is coming... Soon for GW could be "Dark Eldar" soon. In any case, I really REALLY want the Daemon Prince plastic kit, and I've been holding out for about a year for plastic Plaguebearers they spoke of. Hope it comes soon...
  • Azhrarn · 4 months ago
Awesome news (both the FW Chaos Dwarves and the Daemon goodies), but why is Tzeentch once again left out in the cold. :( I have the 30 metal horrors (3 old boxes of 10) I need, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like all the basic troop choices available in plastic, rather than pay €25 for 5 more horrors. >.<

Awesome to see the Mounted Daemonettes in plastic coming though, great news, more choice in my Fast Attack stuff.

The Daemon Prince is nice too, however I have a FW Khorne one, so I'll probably get that one to create a Tzeentch prince of sorts.
  • zed · 4 months ago
you can't please everyone all of the time? anyone heard that before?
  • Kettu · 4 months ago
    Uhh... But if these rumours are true then GW isn't even trying to please anyone;
2nd wave daemons a year and a half AFTER when they should've been released.
Nids before Dark Eldar, Necrons, Grey Knights and Sisters of Battle.
Blood Angels before the fore-mentioned armies AND Tau & Black Templar.
And if Chaos Dwarfs go to Forge World then that is just rubbing salt in the wounds.
  • kaptinscuzgob · 4 months ago
baaaawwwwww. Go somewhere else if you dont like it
  • Kettu · 4 months ago
I have; Flames of War, Warmachine and Descent are all good this time of decade, however as a troll I give you 0/10. Go back under your bridge.
  • zed · 4 months ago
it's trying to please their share holders and that is achieved by selling large volumes. For the 9 people that want chaos dwarves, conversion is a part of the hobby ;o)
  • Grimstonefire · 4 months ago
It wouldn't be a wave release if they did it at the time. ;)

Just thought I'd point out here that the on the fantasy side the only 'new' part of this article is the plagubearers, everything else was already known for months. You forgot the metal characters as well. ;)

There will be SOME CD models produced entirely by GW, can Bigred confirm either here or in the lounge whether he means 100% of the army?

It's not going to be 'forgeworld' btw, the fantasy one will be doing this. ;)
  • Fifey · 4 months ago
    Somebody call the Waaambulance...
  • Big-D · 4 months ago
I think this is great. It gives them some love and will hopefully open the door for more of the offshoot races - Forge World Squats/Demiurg anyone?

This will also be good as maybe Forge World will put out the army book. This would help get more universal support on using the Forge World books in everyday gaming and smaller tournaments without a hassle.
  • Nrg-2-Xlr8 · 4 months ago
The thing about "plastic plaguebearers" would worry me a bit. It could go 2 ways:
the bloodletters - better, more streamlined models, though the originals were cool - Khorne should ALWAYS have axes!!
Or the way of the demonettes - COMPLETE CRAP!!!!!!!
I think it might be a better idea to get your hands on the plaguebearers while you can. Though a new metal command was released around the time of the demons release, and if they had planned on releasing plastic plaguebearers, it's unlikely they would have created brand new metal commands.
  • MaidenManiac · 3 months ago
Youve not been in the hobby a long time right? A Hellblade has, except for 6th ed, always been a sword. Go do your fluff homework...
  • BrassScorpion · 4 months ago
I have some classic Daemonettes on Steeds I painted a while ago up on eBay right now for those who might be interested. This includes a Champ, Musician and Icon (banner):

i have heard about a "chaos dwarf" book from "new company (Forgeworld)". it will be like the IA books. the source is a fine one, but ...... you know the rules. Belive it, when you see it! ;)

I cannot wait for the 2nd wave of Daemons stuff especially that DP Kit!

And 'Nids Q1, I nearly wet myself...that is very exciting!!

I hope the plastic plague bearers is not just rumour. The pewter models look like poo!
