Looks like a nicely balanced rules set. Also means double teaming provides real value. If someone is way ahead, they can get shot up and sent back a few notches if all the other pods work together.

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

scotia grendal has the plastic void junkers and veridian marines, they are less than $1 a piece including shipping (make great guardsmen, warzone proxys, and penal legionnaires...even work as storm troopers). They are multi piece so you would have to build them, but by mixing matching you can get a great variety.......still expensive for 500 or 1000 guys....but crap loads cheaper then a bunch of static dkok guys, Really who in their right mind is going to pay $2000, to fill the stands with forgeworld resin.

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

This is a play type from Gorka Morka. Not audience members. Not cheap.

No GW product, by the way, can come close to an affordable target. A very small grandstand will hold about 200 people. If you want to look impressive you will need 500-1000. I sent a note to wargames foundry to see if a generic Roman/Robed torsos and legs or a generic Modern torsos and legs could make it onto their sculpting bench. They actually hold polls for potential pre-orders, which needs 1000 sprues before they'll do it.

One nice sprue could have two rows of people, each maybe 6 persons wide. Fill out with a mix of torsos, arms and heads (or use your own extra arms and heads, like tau or catachan or Pig Iron) and you can get 12 per sprue. So a hobbyist who wanted a grandstand of 240 people would need 20 sprues. Hell, with math like that, I would want 60 sprues! How cheap could they be made available, and how many other avid hobbyists would be willing to "sign up for" seated audiences of either robed or modern (assume robed serves double duty for aliens as well)?

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

where is the epic tourney?

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

oh, man. Gretchin pot shots in the canyon, and juves and spugs tossin' fire bombs in the city. . . have them make an attack at the lead car each time they get to a certain point.

The real question is what to do about modeling up grandstands? That's a hell of a project right there. Maybe start by having some that are empty. . . Does anyone know if there are (cheap, plentiful) molded groups of people sitting down as audience members?

RTM

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

Mount one on a couple engine pods... or with its legs grasping on to some...

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

We've been having ablast in testing with 4-6 folks per standard 40k table. I can see many games finish at turn 3 and I would prefer to play fewer games, but be more relaxed, and have a decent chance to finish the game.

Re: BoLScon 2009 Pod-Racing and More!

This sounds incredibly fun!
