TWolf cavalry are definitely T5. I'm referring to Lords, who don't have an explicit statline, and as such, by default, have T(4)5.

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Wolf Lord Builds

Except that you left something out of your citation: "... In these cases two values will be shown for the Toughness characteristic of the model..."
In the case of thunderwolf cavalry, it does not show two values, only one. His main job is going to be hunting enemy HQs with a pack of Wolf Guard Terminators.

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Wolf Lord Builds

Modifiers have never ever changed the base value of a characteristic unless it specifically says so. This rule of thumb has existed in both 40k and WFB for as long as they have existed. There was a short period where this had to be clearly explained to people who were either stupid or sought to exploit the rules. Thunderwolf Cavalry are a separate unit entry and cannot be used as a comparison.

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Wolf Lord Builds

"The rending came in handy this weekend when my Wolf Lord got into a fight with a Defiler and had to resort to rending it out instead of trying to hit it with a Frostblade"

It's no longer possible to turn off you're Power Fist (or other special CCW) and attack without them any more.

If you give your WL a special CCW, they have to use that, and will no longer ever gain from the Rending on the TWM.

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Wolf Lord Builds

How can it. It says +1 toughness to his profile. No where does it say this does not effect the instant death rule as it does for the Mark of Nurgle or a Bike. It adjusts his base profile. Look at Thunderwolf Cavalry for example, they are all base toughness 5 not 4 (5).

Re: Goatboy's 40k Thoughts: Wolf Lord Builds

Yes.
