Bell of Lost Souls: Happy Independence Day

  • Khorneguy · 4 months ago
I find it hilarious that on the american independence day, GW releases an expansion that allows you to crush entire world under your heel.

    Hmm...coincidence, much
  • Dunadan · 4 months ago
What better way to celebrate independence from Britain than by giving all your money to a British company ;)

Sorry, thought it was a matter of time before someone quoted South Park :)

Happy Independence Day! Maybe one day Wales will overthrow the relentless yolk of Imperial opression.

I am proud to be an American but respect our brothers and sisters across the sea. We might squabble like siblings but in the end we stick together when it counts.

So I am raising a beer (or pint) to all of you. Here is to all of us whether American, British, Australian, French, Canadian, or otherwise have a fine day.
  • Cap'n Slappy · 4 months ago
So you need to drink a Sam Adams, an Abbot Ale, a Fosters, (I can't think of any French beer, so Belgium it is) Stella Artois, and a Labatt. Get cracking.
  • Vepr · 4 months ago
If only my fridge was that well stocked. Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout will have to do. :^)

I have a praetorian army flying the Union Jack if anyone fancies taking me on ;)
  • Sasquatch1916 · 4 months ago
I want your Praetorians. I've got a command squad(Captain, Bugler, Standard-bearer) and an autocannon team
  • Siph · 4 months ago
JG, wicked minis, i'm jealous. (but dude, it's a Union Flag, not Jack - it's only a Jack when flown from a Jackstaff (on a Ship)) Sry to be flag nerd... Enjoy your 4th. Up the Empire! (of Man).
  • Yaleling · 4 months ago
Too true mate. Technically the Australian Flag is called the British Blue Ensign and I doubt you'll find anyone in either OZ or the UK who calls it that. ;p Sometimes common names are the best!
  • Flashman · 4 months ago

    Happy 4th!
  • Ginge · 4 months ago
I think both parties did ok in the end. You have your great nation. We went from being kicked out by you to stealing Canada off the French, and levered them out of India, and eventually controlled 25% of the worlds population and landmass. It amuses me that the French were loving the Americans causing the British problems - only for both countries to completely overshadow France independently. Now they seem to hate both of us... which I find amusing.
  • Brusilov · 4 months ago
First of all, get your facts straight : the British took Canada from the French before the American War of Independence. That's what's called the Seven Years War (in Europe) or the French and Indian War (over in the US, IIRC). It ended in 1763.
Someone named George Washington played no small part in this conflict. Incidently, without the threat of the French from Canada, the British Colonials started to clamour for more say in the way they were governed.

For further reference, I don't hate the Americans, although I do disagree with them sometimes. And considering the Britons gave us Games Workshop, Warhammer 40,000, Michael Moorcock, Terry Pratchet and the Monty Pythons, they really can't be all that bad.

But yes, we're proud of being French. But who isn't proud of his home country?

So I raise my glass to the Rebels and their great city on the hill.
  • Bigdaddy · 4 months ago
    .... sorry but ...
I'm French Frog, I don't hate American people, they have a great nation and great people ! and I don't hate Subjects of Her Majesty. You are very insulting with us the French people with this comment.

Our three nations are great nation like many others in the world.

Our troops fight together on this world against totalitarianism and fanaticism. Stir up of old stupid quarrel will not bring anything. It is good that nations can reach independence that they are the USA, Canada, India or whatever the place on earth which is occupied by an oppressor.

Your comment have no place here Sir.
  • Cap'n Slappy · 4 months ago
Wait, then why is the french guy in the movies always either the bad guy or the MaƮtre d'? :P Just kidding!
  • Coffee · 4 months ago
Thanks to our fabulous education system, many Americans forget/don't know about the contribution France made to American Independence. In turn, the American Revolution was a catalyst (both in inspiring the people to push for change, and even more so in creating the economic conditions that led to the collapse of the Ancien Regime) for the French Revolution, which started France's rocky path to where it is today.
  • Ginge · 4 months ago
I apologise for the offence, was just playing on the old stereotypes for a giggle. And to Brusilov, yes I went for a very "lite" version of events, I wasn't after doing a proper study of things.
  • DuskRaider · 4 months ago
"Our troops fight together on this world against totalitarianism and fanaticism. Stir up of old stupid quarrel will not bring anything. It is good that nations can reach independence that they are the USA, Canada, India or whatever the place on earth which is occupied by an oppressor."

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Ireland. Someday soon, though...
  • BeastOfShadow · 4 months ago

Have a good one y'all from the good old U of K.
  • Ironhalo · 4 months ago
The funniest outcome? Under UNCLOS (UN Law of the Sea in laymans), Australia owns next to 1/7-1/8 of the world's resources on the continental shelf, not to mention our land mass. We have barely 22 million people to share it too.....so about 0.7% of the world population owns 1/8th or so of the worlds resources including 25% of the worlds Uranium not to mention all the oil fields we have capped for 'future access' around our coast. Woot!

Happy Independance Day Yankees, we are still under the crown! lol!
  • QueenOfNothing · 4 months ago
"we are still under the crown"

Supporting the idea that someone can be superior to others based on the set of thighs they came out from between, there is something to be proud of...
  • addi · 4 months ago
lol, way to take a comment completely out of context.

The Queen is still the head of state of a number of nations, I sincerely doubt you'll find many people who believe the Royals are superior to anybody else though.

In Canada we have an 1812pts day. It's actually a scenario where Planetary Governer Madison is now on the defence after his failed attempt to sieze his nieghboring planet. He is in his Big White Mansion, and all the Invading army has to do to win, is touch the mansion with a flamer.

    Happy July 4th.
