Spell check man, spell check. I can't even finish this.
  • RealGenius · 5 months ago
Unfortunately the spell check worked, it just kept picking the wrong word.

My head hurts from attemping to read this jibberish.

And I mispelled gibberish! Awesome. That's why I don't write articles.

My apologies friends. All is corrected, and my editor has peen put in a small cage with a carnifex for the night.

    ummm. Ok.
I'm going to say something nice about LoTR, because at least it's got people who might not game into gaming. And who knows? Maybe they'll cross over to 40k or...urk....Fantasy. So I'm going to say something nice for a change.
Um. Gee. This tactica certainly looks...thorough.
    Whew. Ok. Did it.
    You go, LoTR players.
Hey, There's Orks in 40k, ya know...and they've got guns! Guns, I say!
Come to the Dark Side....our minis are a little bigger....

Nice article - I particularly like finding out that Castellans of Dol Guldur or so good, since they are one of my favorite units.

On a slightly related note; has there been an article on Easterlings?

LOTR is a blight on my hobby. And now it is startign to be a blight on BOLS.

    That being said....

For a game/setting I do not like, I must stand up and applaud. The LOTR articles are always better than the half brained dribble that 40k and fantasy gets on here.

I would like to thank the efforts of iamadj for taking his time to write this well thought out tactica, and for the editor, big red and his carnifex cage for the wonderful editing job. You guys made me enjoy an article about a game system/setting I hate more than the articles here about the game system/settings I love.

Bravo, and, sigh, oddly enough, I look forward to more LOTR articles because they are such a joy to read. Bravo!

I'm telling you, War of the Ring is fun to play. There wil be some working out the kinks of it as a competitive game, but as a game to play for fun, it's a blast.
  • BuFFo · 5 months ago
My friend, I would try it, but not one person in my area plays the game.

    :(
  • Myu · 5 months ago
BuFFo, if you don't like any of the article on this site or LOTR, then why are you here?
  • BuFFo · 5 months ago
I see what you did there.
  • Myu · 5 months ago
    ...?
  • risen · 5 months ago
There are too many articles about LOTR and too few about 40k Specialist Games in my opinion.
  • BuFFo · 5 months ago
    Really?

BOLS has been doing kick ass Epic articles. There are more Epic articles here of quality than 40konline and Warseer combined lol.

I personally feel BOLS is doing a wonderful job with the Epic articles.

As for the other specialist games, BOLS just covered Blood Bowl... video game version lol.
  • risen · 5 months ago
Thats true. They did lots of Epic articles but I would like to read more about Battlefleet Gothic, Necromunda or Dark Heresy.
  • (*ಠ益ಠ) · 5 months ago
They ARE trying to do something on BFG, but SOMEONE doesnt understand what "free publicity" means...

Hey risen, why dont YOU get some pretty ships and write something up?

    Also, Necro sucks. Face it.

Dark Heresy is an RPG, and it could have a blog all unto its own with how much awesome stuff is in it. Who knows, maybe I'll put some ink to paper on that front...

If you can direct me to how to find people in LA that want to play Dark Heresy, send it my way...

As someone who plays all three major GW systems, I really like being able to come to a single site for decent articles on all the games I like playing. I'd like to see an Isengard and an Elven Kingdoms tactica as they're other armies that interest me in the game.

It's a shame that every WotR article has a large number of comments complaining that the game or article exists because as Jwolf rightly says "I'm telling you, War of the Ring is fun to play."

    Easterlings too! Easterlings too!

Don't worry guys, we plan on covering all races with the "By the Numbers" series, we just have gotten around to them all yet. After they are done we will write more "tactica" articles covering more specific tactics and army lists. Due to the newness of WoTR we decided to that it was best to let people learn the game first and give an over view of the armies before we started on the detailed tacticas.

Also guys thanks for all the positive feedback!

I haven't played it yet, but I picked up rules, read them twice cover to cover, and got my army purchased. It looks like a VERY good game, much more modernized rules set than WFB. Heros dominate for movement and orders, but add no significant value for combat. The way it's supposed to be! I am itching to try it, and also it should be comparatively easier to grow converts out of the mainstream population because of the strength of the LoTR brand.

Hope it's not too late to say thanks for the very helpful article. I love the look of this new game. I've got it and a bunch of models, but only played a few demo games so far. So it's good to have some thought-out thoughts here on BoLS to help point me in the right direction!
