Bell of Lost Souls: NEWS: Stompa, Deffrolla, Apocalypse and More.

  • toymaker · 10 months ago
I sent the email asking for both. I'm not sure what I want to have as my additional superheavy besides my cannon of Khorne
  • GarethUK · 10 months ago
grrr thats annoying, you guys already get to see the stompa kit, we dont get ours in the uk stores for at least another 2/3 weeks (after we get the lizardmen samples)
  • BrassScorpion · 10 months ago
There's apparently one on display already at Warhammer World in the UK. Someone supplied pictures of it in post #249 here:

    "Swathe of Apoc. Releases..."

    DROOL!!! Must have more!
  • Jason · 10 months ago
    To save on confusion:
"- If you're lucky enough to live near a GW store or perhaps certain independent retailers, the Ork Stompa is now making its way onto public display. Customers were able to check out this model quite closely at my own local Battle Bunker starting yesterday."

There is only ONE of these things here in the US making a tour to show.
  • BrassScorpion · 10 months ago
Sorry to disagree, but the model at my local Battle Bunker was built by an employee in the attached HQ offices and then put on display when deemed appropriate. It is not a "touring" model that has been to other sites.

That said, we're lucky to have our store attached to an HQ and often see things displayed a bit earlier than some other places. But the fact that GW is now publicly displaying the model both at Warhammer World in the UK and at the US HQ is a sign that hopefully others will get to see similar displays in the near future. Every US store got a Baneblade to display before its release so there's every reason to believe Stompa kits will be widely displayed as well too.
  • Jason · 10 months ago
I'm just going by what my GW rep said. He also said that we will probably be able to get the "sample" ahead of release date to show off like they did with the game table and 5th ed. rulebook.

brass, i kno i should keep it on a diffrent thread, but can you like shout at bulwark or something? the whole rick-roll thing is really stupid, and the title at first got my hopes up. it was a really stupid thing to do, and really changed my opinion off b.o.l.s., as i atcually expected a thunderhawk of some sort.
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
Dude, let it go. If you didn't find it amusing, fine, but others did.

One thing I realized, though, after that incident: Despite what a lot of people claim, it's not Warseer, or Dakka, or B&C, etc. that's filled with whiny posters that take themselves way too seriously. No, it's become quite apparent that that's just WH40K/WHFB players in general. Sad as that is.

Honestly, Warseer is far more civil than what I've seen here lately.
  • ubetcha · 10 months ago
"Honestly, Warseer is far more civil than what I've seen here lately."

    That's bloody laughable.

BOLS might be balls, but Warseer is DICKS!
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
What's laughable is that's it's the truth. It's not a statement about Warseer, but a statement about what this place has become over the last few days. I find it sad.
  • captain_ideaus · 10 months ago
true, but the topic was something that seemed legit, and rick rolling
should stay in 2006 and 4chan. Also, BOLS is normally above this, and not
many people found it funny, just look at the thread comment board for it.
  • Agreed · 10 months ago
He's right. This isn't You Tube. It's BoLS.

That's not taking oneself too seriously. That's just basic expectations given the way this site has been run for a long time now. It was a legitimate complaint and to minimize it by saying that those readers are "whiny" is to miss the point.

The post was out of place, and wasn't even really that funny. it was tired and sophomoric and it had nothing to do with gaming, which is what this site is supposed to be about.
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
Fascinating! You insist that rickrolling is a thing of the past, but you are comfortable with not capitalizing your "i" and writing kno instead of know.

Dipshit l33t is also very 2006.
  • captain_ideaus · 10 months ago
Sorry I was in rush and did not have time to mess around with
capitalization and the know problem was just a typo. Also there is no need
    to curse.
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
In that case, I apologize. After reading all the hating, I assumed you were following in kind. I beg your pardon, Captain!

    "Sixsystems 9 minutes ago"

    Arsemunch.
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
Wow! That was just so.... witty!

Please continue with your pithy, insightful writings, your whimsical turns of phrase, and the delightful, delicate prose for which you are becoming well known!

I wait with baited breath for your next illuminating correspondence!
  • bob · 10 months ago
'bated, please. It's a contraction of abated.

Or are you really trying to attract fish with your oral exhalations?

    "Sixsystems 1 hour ago"

    Pith off?

    Baited?

    Fishmonger!
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
LOL! Dammit- you guys got me!

Good catch (mind the pun) on that one. I completely dropped the ball there. Guess that's what I get when I start acting like an ass.

    Ah, karma...
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
I truly feel that this is a "mountains out of molehills" issue. It's gone, over with and we have a shiny, new topic here... why not let the past remain in the past and instead talk about some Apoc goodness?
  • Anonannoyed · 10 months ago
It's not just 40k. It's wargaming. Lots of power fantasy issues, over-compensation, obsessive-compulsive types, little boys that never grew up, little boys that want to be Napoleon, little boys that ARE little boys (mostly 40k this one), and of course the pedos and preverts.
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
Really? Well, I'm glad I don't play with the people that you do. :D
  • Anonannoyed · 10 months ago
Oh, I thought we were talking about forum posting "gamers" (who may or may not actually play). My friends are worse.
  • BrassScorpion · 10 months ago
I'm afraid it's not my place to do that, my role here is strictly as a contributing writer and I have no input regarding the contributions of the other writers. If you want to make a request or provide feedback on content here directly to the site owners, the address at the bottom of the page is your best, most direct method of doing so. I need that stompa. End of Line.
  • intellectawe · 10 months ago
    Animosity orcs? For 17 bucks?

Do what a pal of mine did. Take a base that is the size of 4 orc bases, and place two orcs fighting each other right in the center of the formation.

It looks great, people LOVE IT when they see his orc army with fightin' orcs in each formation, and it has the added bonus of saving space for two orcs, which raises the unit count by 2 for nothing! And its all FREE when you buy an orc box.
  • Ork & Orc Collector · 10 months ago
Or, those of us who aren't poor or cheap, and who like the GW mini diorama, might choose to purchase that one.

There's a reason why that series is called the "Collector's Range"....
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
A famous P.T. Barnum quote would be very appropriate right now. But I might offend O&O Collector if I used it....
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
    You mean the "sucker" line?

Trivia: P.T. Barnum never actually said that.
  • Sixsystems · 10 months ago
    Hmmm...

First, you are absolutely correct: I was referencing the "sucker" line. Guess you could see where I was heading with that one, eh?

Second, after looking around it appears that you may have something with your bit o' trivia. Seems that a lot of people attribute that quote to him, but he may not every have said it. However, like so many other things, we'll never really know for sure...

Regardless, thanks for the heads up on that (like i needed more trivia in my brain... sigh). ;)
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
Heh, this one was news to me a couple weeks ago until one of my friends wrote an article referencing Barnum and the Cardiff Giant fiasco. Like you said, we'll never know for sure... but it does make for interesting trivia. :)
  • Azzy · 10 months ago
Concerning the deffrolla sprue.... Word on Warseerer is that it will appear first in a battlewagon battle formation (that contains three battlewagons) box for Apocalypse. It will be available independently later.

That means we'll probably be waiting until March or so when the other Apoc stuff starts to show.
  • Lepp · 10 months ago
I definitely agree with a lot of what that TGN editorial said. 5th edition was great, but GW needs to step it up. The "I go, you go" comment really caught my eye, as I've always felt a squad-by-squad activation sequence (akin to that found in Void) would be better than two armies statically letting loose everything they have. Ah, well. not for another four years...
