Bell of Lost Souls: RUMORS: Heavy Metal Incoming

  • Mark D · 1 year ago
Stompa would make a great jumping off point for a big scenery centerpiece, could build a mek's workshop around an under onstruction stompa.
  • Bobx66 · 1 year ago
Q1!!!!! Q1 for GUARD! Oh please oh please oh please be true.
  • Tim Taylor · 1 year ago
Ohhhhh!!! Thats a awesome piece of news. So many people i know can't wait to see the new IG codex after the new SM codex.
As for the baneblade variants i don't see why the would make anything other than the new Stormlord in plastic as FW recently remade the variants into the same pattern as GW's Baneblade.
The Valkyrie should come out with the new IG codex i think because what other models are they going to release with it other than plastic stormies and a new Leman Russ!
  • just_chris · 1 year ago
    Plastic Ogryns would be nice...

I'm seriously thinking about a horde army (I currently play SM, and would like to try something different), and although I'm keen on getting some bugs happening, a new IG book might tip the balance in their favour...
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
If you make that change from elite to hord its very releasing seeing as your bog-standard guys are bout a third of the cost compared to your previous army, that's what I found.
  • LidlessPraetor · 1 year ago
Same here. I've got a guard army that's around 6 years old, and I love the guard. Personally, I run an all infantry army, so to me, I don't really care about the baneblade or valkyrie too much. I DO want to see some plastic stormies though. All in all, I can't wait.
  • shadowlord · 1 year ago
Love the idea of IG in the first Quarter! Our group ONLY plays Apocalypse. Each week we have about 12-14 guys playing on a 6x16 table! It is a blast! So, as for superheavies we love them and I would love to see more out!
  • random · 1 year ago
i am very interested in the all of them that would be freakin amazing if the stompa came out with the 2nd wave orks, but more than likly will be put with the apoc release whenever that is
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
I'd sure go the Valkyries. I have a drop-ship themed army based on Task Force Ranger (Black Hawk Down) and they'd love an upgrade from my scratched Blackhawks (Chimera counts-as) to Valkyries...
  • bsmoove · 1 year ago
Superheavies. Valkyrie. IG. I'm feeling the financial crunch as much as the next guy, but I'd find a way to pay for each and every piece of plastic glory.
  • faultie · 1 year ago
Maybe I'm the only one, but the thing that gets me the most excited is plastic IG stormtroopers and a Q109 IG 'dex!
  • Maxis Lithium · 1 year ago
My Valk's will block out the sun! Air-cav for the WIN!

But seriously, this is some of the best news I have heared since the announcement of the coming of 5th ed. IG have needed an update, as they were released in 3rd and still have rules that were made obsolete by 4th ed, let alone 5th. I can only hope that the book will live up t the legacy of the I.G.
  • Silverblade · 1 year ago
Hmm... IG 3rd Ed Codex - being redone, SW 3rd Ed Codex - Xmas 08 (unless it's changed), DE 3rd Ed Codex - being worked on by Phil Kelly, Rumors of Necrons - 3rd Ed Codex. Looks like they're making an effort to retire all the old codices from 3rd Ed to me. Who's left that I've forgotten that doesn't have at least a 4th Ed Codex? (not counting BA - they had an official WD update to 4th, then 5th)
  • rakshasa · 1 year ago
    Uuuum...Inquisition/Sisters ? ;)
  • sodcactus · 1 year ago
Naaah, they're fine as is (just kidding, don't kill me please :) )
  • abhinavjain · 1 year ago
more like terminating your life for insubordination to an an Inquisitor and purging all records of your life from the Imperial Archives...

    :)
    =p
  • zed · 1 year ago
If they made them I'd buy them. Simple as that.
  • ente · 1 year ago
I haven't play apocalypse yet, but given the logistic difficulties of such games i think i will not play them on regular bases.

BUT I love to build the tank kits! And a Stompa connservion based on an GW model would be DAKKA DAKKA!
  • Medium Dave · 1 year ago
I look forward to valkyries and stompas if they happen, but this reminds me, i had heard that plastic greatcoats for IG customisation would be coming out, is that going to be with the codex or sooner perhaps?
  • nist · 1 year ago
Love Apocalypse and in particular the big stuff... more plastc kits would just be great, anyway FW does a fantastic Job, there is rarely a new Model which doesn't just look so cool.. I really look forward to the IG release althought I would really like to see the Mordians being featured again (sniff*, I would immediately start an IG army).
  • Phill · 1 year ago
i would be interested in two thunderhawks. Whenever there is a group of us for 40k we play apocalypse nearly exclusively cause it is so much fun!
  • Savark · 1 year ago
Stompa? really what is the point. i would (and hope) they would be easy to be made from cardboard ur bitz box and a medium bucket...
  • Madjob · 1 year ago
Yes, but only the more skilled scratchbuilders can make a Stompa look good. Can you imagine an official Stompa model at the sort of level we've been seeing in the newer Ork models? It's got me drooling just thinking about it, and even if you prefer to customize your stuff, you can still use this one as a base, or even just for bitz. I'm sure the weapon options would be worth buying the kit for just to loot for your own scratchbuilt stompa.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
I would love plastic Valkyries and Stormtroopers. Not too interested in the superheavies, but Valkyries (and Vultures) are great.

Of course, what I'd really like is a plastic version of Aeronautica Imperialis. And a new Battlefleet Gothic, optionally with plastic Cobras for Honorverse levels of torpedo spam, and plastic ships for the non-Imperial/Chaos fleets.

    And a pony.
  • Mark D · 1 year ago
That's a whole heaping pile o plastic to look forward to.
I imagine that GW will try to cram all 3 Baneblade variants on to a single new sprue rather then have three new kits on the shelves.

The stompa is what I'm most looking forward to, even though I don't really play much and haven't touched apocalypse I'd love to just build it and kustomise it to the nth degree.

Valk could be fun too, might turn it into a 3 wheeled battlewagon like those beach sailing buggie things.
  • Ridicule · 1 year ago
    Man! Valkyres and plastic Stormtroopers!
    Do Want!
Not as much as I want that new 5th edition IG Codex though, it's about time the IG gets some love :)
  • Pete Mason · 1 year ago
I'm very excited about plastic stormtroopers (hopefully based off Kasrkin) and the Valkyrie. One of these days I might pick up a shadowsword but it depends on how much I'll use it.

I have no real interest in a thunderhawk, as I think its a fairly ugly design and will likely be a very expensive model, and I don't play orks so I'm not bothered either way about a Stompa, but I'm sure it will be a popular kit.
  • Culial · 1 year ago
    Ooh, plastic Valkyrie!
That could make my much-dreamed-about Elysian detachment semi-affordable!

Personally, I think it's much more Orky seeing the myriad of scratch-built Stompas that are around rather than dozens the same. Just seems the fit the inspired mech background a lot more. Bolt summof 'ose on derr rather than attach component A to point B

As for the Baneblade Variants, leave them be. The BB kit is great and FW make the variants for a modest additional fee (for FW) plus until I see some Plasma Blastgun toting plastic, I'll give it a miss.

Now, the Thunderhawk. It's probably never going to happen, but if it did...wow!
I just wouldn't be able to stop myself, and I barely ever play Apoc (note: not through lack of wanting to).
  • nurglespuss · 1 year ago
For me the 'big' stuff is mainly for display, and is not really 'fun' to play with in the same sense as 'proper' models. I love the principle behind apocolypse (freedom yay! power gamers shot down), but I don't think it needs to involve such big models.

Onto the plastic variants, well, what are GW and forgeworld up to? I though forgeworld had a release run for conversion kits for the baneblade. I would go so far as to say that the information is in fact wrong, and these rumours are a result of people misinterpreting the facts...

Also, onto the fliers. After the baneblade release, the valkerie is vaguely believable, and would be cool (though when considering what they would actually transport, it becomes less cool). However, I would like now to stamp my big fat foot down on any Thunderhawk rumers, they are just daft, and the result of the fevered imaginations of furiously {@^&!^£ boys, and adults who should know better.

Anyway, back to the topic, yes I love apocolypse, I use the rules in both 3000pt +- battles, they make the game fun again. Do I think more huge, and mainly unusable models whould be released... errm no, and no more sad bags with space marine symbols on either, make something the adults aren ashamed to carry around.
  • abhinavjain · 1 year ago
if some1 wants a plastic Thunderhawk from GW they got it!!!!

just wait a few years for it... there are more things that need immediate attention than a single $300-$400 model... like the SW, IG, DE, Necron, Inquisition codexes...

this is what I have been told at my store and it makes sense - release a new codex and minis range for that codex versus release a very expensive model for a single army.
  • Robert S. Paul · 1 year ago
"Caveat Emptor" means buyer beware, which is not what you meant. You can just say "usual caveats",
  • Parcival · 1 year ago
I don't play Apocalypse because I haven't painted enough models yet, although I do own the necessary amount for both Orkz and Blood Angels. Furthermore, I rely on public transportation so anything too big is hard for me to be taken to games. However, the Ork Stompa and a plastic Thunderhawk would make it onto my shopping list.

The rest of my group regularly plays Apocalypse and Forgeworld models are used for those exclsuively.
  • Pinky · 1 year ago
Though plastic ST and Valkeries are both great news, I, like Medium Dave, was really looking forward to the possibility of plastic greatcoat guard with the next IG codex release (hello trench coat mafia Stealer Cult!).

Any whispering about that, FlyLords? Maybe a second wave Guard release?
  • smurfhater · 1 year ago
one of my local GW staff said that from now on ALL codex releases are going to be in two waves
  • Vodski · 1 year ago
Big models are great in Apoc! When your playing with 10,000 points a high death toll helps the fun and moves the game along . Taking out whole units with one throw of the scatter dice is what its all about. So come turn four , when all the reserves are out , there is still some space to move around in. We started a game on sunday which will be continued next week , and as soon as the board is most populated with reserves , I'm gonna use my ork boys "Rok 'em" asset , d3 10" templates that scatter d6 foot, with destructor damage to all underneath. Waaaaagh!

Oh and by the way the plastic valkyrie is deffinatly on the way , I bought a forge world one at games day last week , so as per my normal luck , they are sure to be cheap and plentyfull by the start of the year. DOH!
  • TheInnerGeek · 1 year ago
I feel your pain on the recent Valkyrie purchase in as much as they are now coming out in plastic. Many years ago I converted a couple of the old style Rhinos to double as Whirlwinds... they still look good... but about six months later, GW started selling the Whirlwind kit. Then, when the plastic bikes came out, I converted a Chaplain to rid a bike... about three months later GW released the Chaplain on bike kit. It's uncanny. The good news, I recently bought a Reaver Titan from Forge World, so maybe my doing so will cause a cheap plastic alternative to come out soon! (I doubt it though)
  • Sheck · 1 year ago
Valkyrie makes sense...kits for baneblade varients make sense...BUT a Stompa?

How many ork players are there? Will they buy a $100 model? It's SUPER easy to convert / make a great build. It does not make sense.
  • Madjob · 1 year ago
Hahahahaha, you seriously underestimate ork players then. If there aren't that many in your area, that's a darn shame, but they're out there and their wallets are as fat as yours. I mean, one of our Apocalypse units, the Skullhammer, is most easily converted from a Baneblade base model, so of course we'll buy a Stompa kit if it at least means we've got a good model to base a more elaborate, unique one off of.
  • Raven0470 · 1 year ago
Love to see the Stompa's and All the Superheavies made into real models. Bring it on --watch out bank account!!
  • gossven · 1 year ago
I would be stoked if GW released more of the super heavies in plastic, because they would be more affordabl. And if they were more affordable I think we would see a lot more super heavies( besides baneblades) in apoc games.
  • TheInnerGeek · 1 year ago
All this cool new stuff. I just wish they'd come out with a box set of friends who play 40K, buy the beer, and provide the snacks. Oh what am I saying, that would cut into my modeling and painting time.. which I'll need more of with the fancy new plastic Guard stuff coming out!
  • Utan · 1 year ago
A stompa kit would be used as a basis for many converted stompas by ork players. It would also be a welcome "big box o' bitz" for converting other ork models. It could also make an attractive terrain piece for non-Apocalypse games as well.
  • BrassScorpion · 1 year ago
The Valkyrie is real. Let's hope it's released with the IG Codex revision.

I'd love to see all plastic Shadowswords, etc. in spite of already owning some of the Forge World hybrid kits. I'd buy another Shadowsword, this time for my Chaos army , if it was all plastic and cheaper than the FW kit.

There are also rumors of a plastic Stormlord since those CADS of it floated around at Games Day events this year right around the time Apocalypse Reload was released. I hope that turns out to be true, because I'd like to have a second Stormlord for my Imperial forces without having to do this again: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/in...
It was fun scratch converting, but quite labor intensive and time-consuming.

Oh, and as for a Thunderhawk plastic kit, I'd buy at least three! One for my Dark Angels, one for my about to be new self made Codex Marine chapter and at least one for my massive Chaos Marine legion.
  • Bulwark · 1 year ago
As an ork player, I'm not really interested in a stompa. I wasn't impressed with the pics in the apoc book and I don't think the market is there to justify the production cost. If it has lots of good gubbins, I may get one for the parts, but certainly not to build a stompa with.
The baneblade variants, on the other hand, are a very welcome sight.
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
I disagree, I like the stompa in the apoc book though if its too expensive I will build my own (or even Finish it!)
  • DarthCycle · 1 year ago
Personnaly, any kit or model offered in plastic as an alternative to forgeworld model is a good thing and increase significantly the chance of me buying it.

Currently, there is no chance of me paying 85 GBP for a shadowsword; that's just too expensive. In CAD$, that's about 165$. The Baneblade is 95$CAD, give me a 25$ kit for a shadowsword for a total cost of about 120$. Now you're talking.
  • Joyous_Oblivion · 1 year ago
From what GW is now telling people (Q1 being within the release window now) even the basic store staff know whats coming out for guard, and the Valkyrie is not.

For Orks a Battlewagon is confirmed, so I somewhat doubt a stompa will be out as well, but it would be awesome.

This is being openly told to customers at GW stores and by GW management (at least here in Canada).

Again Caveat Emptor, but it seems to make sense to me.

Also for the plastic thunderhawk...can we be realistic? Sure the rumours are persisitent, but GW is very into making money, and the thunderhawk would likely not do that for them. The only reason we got a plastic Baneblade is because Imperials (marines and guard) Chaos, and Orks could use it.

A thunderhawk will be 2-3 times the price (or more) than a Baneblade, and only be useable to Space Marine players. COnsidering the extremely high cost of making the plastic moulds for mass production it just doesn't make sense that GW would make this kit.

Hope I am very wrong, but severely doubtful.
  • Obsidian_Wolf · 1 year ago
Hope to see a plastic Valkyrie, will be good for my Apoc Storm Trooper squads... as for regular Apoc games, our game store doesn't do them as often as i'd like, and we don't use forgeworld stuff in anything but Apoc... managed to get one game in last weekend for 5000 points, brought all my super-heavies, was a Baneblade(resin), Hellhammer(plastic), and the old Armorcast Warhound... I'd be up for the plastic versions of the baneblade beyond the Hellhammer, and would love to finally see the Stormlord
  • Tim · 1 year ago
My group meets once a month and there's almost always an apocalypse game going on somewhere, usually 3 or 4 people will set up a team game and often someone will have forge world stuff. So yeah, I'd love to see more big stuff :)
  • Warmaster · 1 year ago
The valkryie will be an awesome addition and will add to the variety of guard armies, kind of like the release of drop pods. And my orks would love a stompa. I have scratch built gun trukk's fighters and bomba's, but the stompa was a bit out of my range.
  • clkeagle · 1 year ago
We also run big stuff, both in campaigns and in Apoc games.

If GW is concerned about financial success of large models, all they should do is check eBay. Old Armorcast titans, tanks, wagons, Chaos and Nids are going for near-Forgeworld prices. While I'm sure it's partly sentimental value, I think most of it is just wanting to use them in Apoc games.

As much of an opponent as I am of the plastic terrain boards, I'm a supporter of big Ork kits like Stompas and Battlewagons, as long as it doesn't invalidate the use of scratch-builds at tournaments. More big Imperial kits sound okay, but I think GW would find more success with plastic frames of metal-line models like Sisters or Gray Knights.

A better option for Ork vehicles might be to release a simple plastic "kustomization" frame with all the weapon options found on Stompas and Battlewagons. Just a frame of big shootas, rokkit launchers, skorchas, a kannon, etc.
  • xbruthamanx · 1 year ago
Aside from Q1 09 rumors, I would enjoy hearing a bit more as to what GW has in the pipe for IG.
I am personally thinking they are rolling Tank Companies, DH, and WH back into a complete Imperial list. I know that will make many players unhappy, but it would make for a fairly diversified army. Plus, the miniature marketing with this idea is optimal. Introduce an updated box set of basic troops which can be used by people who already have, at current time, 4 separate army lists.
I dont have any inside info on it or anything, it just sort of makes sense.
    Anyone actually hear anything lately?
  • clkeagle · 1 year ago
Codex-wise, that wouldn't be terribly hard to do, by the current model. An Inquisitor (Malleus or Hereticus) could allow Stormtroopers to be taken as Troops, otherwise they're just Elites... similar HQ-choice guidance for Sisters or Grey Knights. And I think it's a good idea, as it would allow for more flexibility in the army, yet retain the current style of lists (outside of allies with SM chapters, not sure how they'd pull that off).

But with the model-release-with-codex logic, there's no way GW will release new IG models/stormtroopers AND new Sisters AND new Grey Knights at the same time. Which is unfortunate for WH and DH players.
  • rosehunter · 1 year ago
The rumors of a Plastic Thunderhawk is really what has me excited, hopefully they will also have a variant for the vichel transport option that forgeworld makes. That combined with the new plastic drop pod will really make some nice marten lists
  • Bloodthirster · 1 year ago
In one of the forums, someone asked Phil Kelly about the Plastic Thunder Hawk.

Simple answer... they can not make it.

They do not habe the technology to make plastic kits that big. The baneblade was at the limit.
  • BrassScorpion · 1 year ago
A hobbyist can still dream... ;-)
  • xbruthamanx · 1 year ago
The argument that the thunderhawk is too large to produce in plastic is not only rediculous, it just defies logic. Now, if they were to say, it is not economically feasible... I would believe that. If their response was to say, it would be more complicated than the miniature range targets... Ok. Too large??? hardly.
I understand that the thunderhawk is a complicated miniature with a moderately high level of detail. I also remember putting together a necron monolith, which is one of the larger plastic kits available at the moment. I know the detail involved in the current edition land raider, which I know is not quite as large as a thunderhawk. I can see the planning and creation of such a miniature as a daunting task.
On the other hand... I have completed plastic kits of aircraft carriers, destroyers, and even a replica of the starship enterprise all of which were not only highly detailed, but, unquestionably more complex, and much less expensive.
Now, dont think i am knocking GW. i have been spending much more on their products than i should for over 15 years and am not really planning to stop. I have no interest in buying a thunderhawk or any other "large" models. They are making much more profit selling resin "large" miniatures than they could selling them in plastics. I just think half assed excuses should stop being accepted as truth.
Jeez, i am having a slow day at work!
  • SSG Snuffy · 1 year ago
I've seen model aircraft carriers and sailing ships that are easily T-hawk sized, and there's a kit on the shelf of the local hobby store for a German submarine that's half again that size (for only about $200, too). It could be done, I think, if they wanted to badly enough.
  • Bloodthirster · 1 year ago
Just relayin gwhat the GW team were saying at Games Day.

The only thing I can think of is this:

How thick is the plastic that the model ships are made of, or your enterprise. Now think about the thickness of plastic used in the banblade or monolith, or even the ruins.

That could be causing the problems.
  • Eddie · 1 year ago
yes, scale model ships can be made at that size, and with significant details, but those are display models. the plastic for a thunderhawk would need to be 4-5 times thicker. those model ships are meant to sit on a shelf forever. I don't know about you, but I want a model that can stand up to gaming, (or unsupervised gamestore kids).

Myself and two others have been playing quarterly Apoc battles ranging from 12000 to 20000 per side. We all represent IG forces of various configurations. Our opponents range from Orks( the hardest) to marines. I on occasion field a Baneblade company consisting of 10 baneblades. One of the others on my team also had one. Pics and storyline available here. http://houston77th.com/77thCombinedTaskForce
  • RedScorpionsGirl · 1 year ago
Plastic thunderhawks would rock! I've wanted a thunderhawk for a long time but just can't bring myself to spend $780 on one. Even at $200-$250 that is a fraction of what the forgeworld one costs. While it looks great, it's just too expensive. I saved up and bought a maurader bomber and thought that was a huge investment....basically at the current Thunderhawk cost.....I could get 3 of those LOL...Bring on the Plastic Thunderhawk!!
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
But like Bloodthirster said above it doesnt seem GW have an plans to nidulge us with this idea as a thunderhawk, judging by the FW ones would probably be too big for them to make a plastic mould.
  • Scott · 1 year ago
    This would be FANTASTIC.

I don't use "Forgeworld" in my games, but that's because I don't like shelling out a kidney for a miniature. I WILL use plastic models of the same stuff though. I already own a Baneblade, and plan on getting several Drop Pods. I would buy a fleet of Valkyries.

I can't explain how much I want plastic thunderbolts.
  • Slawson · 1 year ago
I'd love to see some plastic Valhallans or the rumored great coats that would let me do the same thing. So many people bought catachans and cadians that they became the imp guard. Those models were the only ones made in plastic. So I buy all the used Valhallans I can find and sometimes order new squads from GW Direct.
  • berzerkermike84 · 1 year ago
ok so they make them for forge world, which isnt cheap. and now they are makin them for GW. whats up with that?! i say if they can make them out of that inferior forge world plastic they can make them out of the reg plastic. also why dosnt all GW stores carry forge world models?! thats what i want to know.
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
Apparently Gw say they can only make molds for models of a certain size in plastic (Baneblade the bigest size)
  • Eddie · 1 year ago
forgeworld is alot smaller than GW, and doesn't have the capacity/demand to put it in every small gaming store. also, Forgeworld makes it's models out of resin, witch is alot cheaper to make than the sculpt for a plastic sprue. a resin mold costs hundreds to make, a plastic mold costs thousands.
most of what forgeworld makes is for a small percentage of gamers. GW relies on mass quantity to justify making a model. If GW tried to make everything that forgeworld did in plastic, it would go bankrupt.
    -eddie
  • UltramarineFan · 1 year ago
Yeah but resin is really hard to get right seeing as they often break or the resin is too malformed for distribution
  • King_Wibble · 1 year ago
I think that it's unlikely we will see a plastic thunderhawk unless it arrives with something like an apocalypse window. Its a big expensive model that will need a big system like apocalypse to make it work. They wont just put it out there for standard 40k. That said, it will be expensive but a hell of a lot cheaper than a forgeworld model. Look at the cost reductions of other forgeworld - games workshop kits. Drop pods, baneblades, tau pirhana, they would be able to offer us a quality product for half, possible a third of the current price. I love to play apocalypse because its the only time i can use my two full battle companies and other added models of space marines at once and so i would love to be able to by thunderhawks, but wont be able to pay fw prices. Now gw have drop pods iv brought several!
  • baneblade1440 · 1 year ago
I'd be very tempted by the Valkyrie, air cav armies have always appealed to me (I'll be starting a scout one soon!) The thunderhawk would be awsome, just to even have one would blow my mind. As to the Baneblade Variants, I could take them or leave them, I like the standard one and the Hellhammer. My group in GW Dublin use superheavies at the drop of a hat but not much forge world stuff to be honest, mostly jsut baneblades
Love to see all of them made.
  • Firehippo · 1 year ago
I am really looking forward to the plastic valkrie and stormtroopers, I am really hoping they do plastic great coats too.

A storm lord would be awesome for my forces to have as well. :)
  • The Iron Hentai · 1 year ago
Unfortunately, I just don't trust the news about the stompa. According to my guy (who's fairly in-the-know), it would cost them uver $200,000 (US) to even make the injection molds. It't take quite a few sales of these kits to break even, let alone turn a profit.
My big question is, what'll be dropping IN FRONT of the new I.G. codex? Necrons is the obvious answer, but we're still a long way out from the end of the year. We're in the middle of Marines now, with Chaos Mortals only a little bit away, and with the waning support for LoTR recently (which is sad as I'm one of about six people on earth who genuinely likes the game), one wonders what'll be the BIG THING for the end of year holidays...
Hopefully not just the silly plastic terrain again. Haven't they learned that no-one really cares about terrain (not to say at all, but compared to a new army, meh). The GIANT flaw with those game boards is having the hills built in, but now I'm straying WAY off-topic.

Regardless, it's time to start painting those other platoons I've got collecting dust in my closet...

prolly not since '08 started with Orks and its a 3-month rotation for all the systems, so lord of the rings should have the final release for this year... thats what i've heard a lot of times about new releases for each system....
however, the new year may start with some SW goodness... i wud prolly be a very happy camper if it did come out around christmas!

I'm building up an armored cavalry-type IG force, based on the 11th ACR in Fulda. I'd definitely buy a few Valkyries to add another squadron.

I don't play in Apocalypse games, mostly because of the time required for such a game - I can't ever seem to free up a chunk of daylight large enough.

I'm interested in some of the Baneblade variants, but only from a modeling point of view. I've played with and against a Baneblade and Hellhammer in some non-Apocalypse games. It's an interesting battle once or twice, but not really appropriate for regular play.

Your talking about 4/11 ACR "Blackhorse" then, I was there when Sickles AAF and Downs Barracks closed down. Been Wanting to do an Air Cav thing myself, just to cost prohibitive when you add the Valks and Elysians together. I've been wactching the Valk rumors for awhile and I'm hoping they do pan out, oh wow is my wallet gonna hurt!!

If you haven't already, pick up a copy of Tom Clancy's "Guided Tour of an Armored Cavalry Regiment." It's a great basis as far as numbers and composition, and a pretty good read, besides.

Always a pleasure to meet another Blackhorse trooper, by the way.

Not holding my breath on any of these. I'll believe it when we see the first sprue shots.
  • scotchjon · 1 year ago
Moderately interested in Valkyrie, depending on how cool it looks. Won't be an immediate priority but probably pick up a couple with some new storm troopers to round out my army.

    The Stormlord? I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!!

Our gaming group plays apocalypse pretty much de rigeur. Regular sized games just aren't as much fun. We have strong interest in all of the plastic releases that come out, and plastic stormtroopers, sisters, greatcoats, valkyries, and blade variants will sell extremely well around here. The stompa, yeah, you could sell three or four to us, too.
  • anonymous · 1 year ago
    sweet valkyres.
    and stormtroopers.

    love love love

I love the sound of the new plastic kits. Dont collect the guard but have their codex (along with too many others lol).

I try n get an apocalypse game going as often as i can. I have Apocalypse armies for Nids, Necrons and Dark Angels. Apocalypse also gives me the excuse to use the DA codex and field the thunderer cannon as an ally. I have a couple of Forgeworld models for each Army and enjoy using them (Shadowsword, Thunderbolt, Pylon and Hierodule), especially as my brother Scratch built two Reaver Titans (Shudder).

(shiny new stuff) but the stompa if it comes, nah built me own from a old remote control holder, bitz and gubbinz that the kids at the store love. much more fun than fit part a to part b. , Now wheres that sci fi tank i am building a battlewagon from...

    Dear Fly Lords:

We the users don't need a garbage post daily to keep us sated. Some here seems to think we do, since we've had this nonsense, yesterdays too little too late AoBR review, and Sunday's useless (albeit cool looking) Greater Daemon post.

We will keep coming back to the site for all the awesomeness you offer us in things like the Tacticas, transfer sheets, army list variants, and of course the REALLY USEFUL NEWS.

Everyone has been making rumors of the plastic ST, IG great coats, and Valkyrie for some months now. What about the mystery third Russ variant? Not important enough? Look at this day's news and see that none of it is worthy.

Thank you for your time, Fly Lords.

    Sincerely,
    The Loyal Users

    Dear Anon.

If the garbage posts are bothering you, there is a easy solution. Cut back on the visits to once every week or maybe every second week. Hopefully there will be something worthy of your attention then. Unfortunately, as mighty as the Fly Lords are they can't hasten the pace of which GW or FW works and therefore has to report on whatever has happened.

I personally find these small tidbits of rumours entertaining and I'm happy I don't have to scourge Warseer to read them.

I agree I like reading these small pieces so long as it s news on whats happening i'm fine( the greater deamon posts were quite cool aswell)
  • Ridicule · 1 year ago
    Hey man
You're not talking for everybody here.
I personally don't mind updates even if their maybe a bit unnecessary. I just want something fun to read every morning and the Fly Lords provide.
    Sincerely,
    The Content User

    Here here,

your speaking for me in this post, but give the FlyLords some time to pull their game back, and then we can complain :>

    Loyal User.

I agree with Ridicule as well.

I agree with Ridicule. I think that the daily posts are great. They give me someting to look at every day. Now that Rise of the Tau is winding down, and 40K radio is only every two weeks, I personally love having new Topics as often as possible.

My main recomendation, is that we want to see Brassscorpin's collections. We know that Mkerr, and Bigred have huge armies, and that Jwolf loves his Tallarn IG, but what about the other fly lords, especially BrassScorpion.

I personally love seeing new lists/ armies, and if anyone wants to donate them, please do!

Hmmm, can understand the sentiment to a certain extent after all some of this stuff has been rattling around for a while but at the same time it's non offensive and often serves to confirm or bolster rumours.

What I would say to the OP is this...

If you want to make a statement of this nature then stand up and be counted...step into the light and show yourself rather than skulking in the shadows of 'Anon'.
  • Aventine · 1 year ago
Do you really think posting a handle would make him any less anonymous than he is now?
  • ArmouredWing · 1 year ago
It's easy and somewhat cowardly to make such sweeping statements without putting a handle to it and taking responsibility. It may be true that some of the BoLS stuff is a bit dusty but these guys do it because they love it.
If you're gonna knock them then at least have the bottle to stand up and be counted. It's not a matter of being accountable, it's a matter of showing some backbone and some commitment in your opinions.

You not only do not speak for The Users, you don't even speak for yourself... anon.
  • Lord · 1 year ago
I agree that he spoke out of turn, but lets stop this bickering, and go back to painting!
  • Eddie · 1 year ago
lord, please remember, bickering is half the hobby itself ;)

  • faultie · 1 year ago
Only half? Hmmm, I suppose I should tone it down a bit, then. :)
  • nurglespuss · 1 year ago
That and can you blame him for posting as 'anon' when the unwashed 'internet masses' often react badly to cirticism? p.s. its the curse of the internet: loss of intelligeable English, loss of manners, increase in opinion, increase in anonymity.
  • abhinavjain · 1 year ago
just reading the first three words of this post i knew anon was gonna complain....
you don't speak for all of us dude... speak for yourself...
the AoBR post is great cuz it informs people who are gonna get lots of those boxes and dont play Apoc that they CAN play Apoc with AoBR armies.. and a few additions...
the Greater Daemon post is interested... WHO doesnt want a plastic chaos DP??
and the current post? for heaven's sake it's a discussion board for people....

This site just doesnt provide hobby info... this site is also a discussion board for people to talk, share ideas and what not....

if you don't like the discussion board and just wanna be spoon-fed, then fine... but don't diss the people who work on this site and never again assume that YOU represent all of us...
