No matter how bad IGN or Gamespot bash them, the Dynasty Warrior game play is popular and it sales. I am expecting this, just not from relic, who always make games base on critic rating ;p

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

http://www.ebaumsworld.com/...

:S

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

a) It's not Warhammer 40k by the tabletop rules. It's a video game.

b) It's a video game called "Space Marine." Guess who'll be the most badass?

c) The 40k fiction is practically all about Space Marines killing enormous swaths of enemies that would pose huge problems for them in tabletop.

d) Space Marines rule. Orks can suck it.

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

@SM & @Kafkadreams

Thanks guys for seeing what I saw in it as well. The squad based RTS lite was done years before in the Commando games. Gameplay elements were changed, like squad leaders being imortal and interesting objectives being replaced with a chipper-shredder land grab, but the basic concept wasn't new.

Not saying that it was a bad game, just that it wasn't exceptional.

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

I agree that It does look like a DOW 2 mod.
Sure there has to be a slew of new code to turn a RTS into an action/rpg brawler but the preview looks like it's rendering in the DOW 2 engine, ergo DOW 2 mod.

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

Cmon you picky nerds get your head out of your rulebooks!!! Do you really think that someone is going to make a game and worry about little details such as who can have what weapons, "they don't just hand out Thunder Hammers" etc.....

Let's be a little realistic here they want the game to look cool for the MASS MARKET.

The story of a small squad of specially equipped soldiers severely outnumbered and triumphing against the odds is nothing new for video games or movies. Maybe you should look on the bright side and be glad that they even made it and it will bring more people into the tabletop hobby.

Re: SNEAK PEAK: THQ's Space Marine

I wish people would take the time to actually READ the articles related to this upcoming game. In IGN it states that other xenos where spotted in the gameplay demo. Could they chane the villains to someone else, I know Orks are pretty easy and plausable to use bu they get beat on all the time, it'd be more interesting if instead the SM were infiltrating a Chaos-corrupted world and were trying to fight their way through cultists and traitors to their Chaos Lord or maybe even a Daemon Prince :D I find that more....flavourful
