REAL WORLD: Bolters are Real!
And so's my wife!
On a separate note in a post about a week ago I talked about making a 40k mix cd/playlist and I have a tentative version now, and am looking for a bit of review/sugestions...... after I get this done comes a fantasy CD..........
Finisterra- Mago De Oz............ Space Marines
Achilles Last Stand-Led Zeppelin.............IG
The Zephyr Song-Red Hot Chili Peppers.......Tau (this one I'm not very happy with)
Holy Wars... The Punishment Due-Megadeth.......... Inquisition
Sign Of the Hammer-Manowar................ Daemons
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns-Iron Maiden............. Chaos Marines
Electric Funeral-Black Sabbath................. Necrons
Painkiller-Judas Priest................ Dark Eldar
Bad Moon Rising-Credence Clearwater Revival.............. Orks
The Great Sun Jester-Blue Oyster Cult.................... Eldar
Harvester Of Sorrow-Metallica................ Tyranids (Don't like this too much either)
Notice how there is a Necron & Dark Eldar song
I know this is a fantasy topic, but I will post a fantasy CD when I have this done, I do play fantasy too, and like the new Skaven models a hell of a lot
So if anyone has sugestions or corrections for the playlist I'm open to them, mind you I'm not the kind of person who thinks death metal fits all races personalities.
I wonder if we'll get people telling you it all sucks. Can we skip that part??!
'Honor' by 'Atreyu'
Tyranids:
'End of all hope' by 'Nightwish'
My favourite Eldar one ever:
'Falling Down' by 'Atreyu'
In response to Gustav, I like orion and was looking to incorperate it
I looked for a long time at dreamevil and man o war, and decided, Chosen Ones should be saved for fantasy where it seems to apply more and has a slightly lighter feel, I have never heard of Frontline Assembly, but I like it, especially Dead Planet, I have also looked at Porcupine Tree.................................... And I do agree with Gustav, if anyone has problems with the whole idea of making an CD like this, keep it to yourself (constructive criticism not criticism)
There is no reason why there can't be variations on this as well, well thanks
As for Falling Down, I suppose it's probably more suited to the Dark Eldar, but then, it doesn't feel sadistic enough. It's more describing the in between.
EDIT: Oh yeah and 'Indestructible' by Disturbed for Space Marines.

Nile - Cast Down the Heretic always spoke 40k to me.
- Safety Dance (inevitable victory song)
- Forgotten Sons, Marillion (inevitable loss song)
How about Stealer's Kiss by D-Rok for the Tyranid option. Or Swarm Reigns (Down) by Isis.
Or We're A Happy Family by the Ramones as covered by Anthrax, for the Tau.
Death In Fire - Witchhunters.
A Fury Divine - Demonhunters
And Soon The World Will Cease To Be - Nids
Bleed For Ancient Gods - Necrons
Free Will Sacrifice - IG
Live For the Kill - Orks
(Those Skaven models are awesome.)
Their guitars are forged in oldskoolium, making the original warhammer music since '89
* use electro-industrial bands front line assembly or allied vision for Space marines, cos it practically sounds like cyborg super soldier music anyway. "Back to ashes" or "Last wave" by Allied Vision would be apt.
* use experimental/noise/dark ambient/death-industrial for Chaos. Chaotic/twisted music for Chaos. Go get some Brighter Death Now CD's. And for nurgle you have the band Wraiths which even have an album called "plague bearer".
* For nids, check out Verticon ; http://www.myspace.com/verticonhivemind again, its practically like listening to the sounds you'd hear within a hive-ship or something.
Also Cradle of Filth would be a good place to start for the Skaven...
I do feel music is a good way to improve the hobbying and gaming experience, and I have found that most of my painting happens when I'm enjoying music which sets the tone, it also helps people relax and play games that are more chill, less competitive, and more stimulating
If I find a more related topic then I will post version 2 of the CD in the comments,
well thank you all, and remember if your willing to devote 1+ hours to a game have fun, and enjoy the experience
My 40K mix had very little metal. Lots of blues songs or country are all about killing people and a lot more believeable than metal. I mean some of those guys really killed people...
T-Model Ford "I'm Insane"
Howlin' Wolf "Evil"
"Hard Time Killing Floor Blues"
"Excuse me I got someone to kill"
"One day I will kill you" Supersuckers
"Someone's gonna die tonight" Rusty
Also check out Electirc Brain Salad Surgery by ELP and the song Toscatta.

There's plenty of examples of folk in metal bands getting hauled up for attacking people, if that *really* lends their music credence. Reckon you'll find that more country musicians grew up with more guns around than metal folk, making fatalities easier to achieve.
on a second side note, I've started thinking about a fantasy CD and was wondering if anyone knew where I could find some of the rules and back stories to chaos dwarves and kislev, which need to be represented, even if they are left out currently
I want kislev back the models were cool, and the idea of having polish lancers and polar bears sparks my fancy, I would love to mix some empire stuff in and get a poland/russia/tutonic feel of an army
BoLS is rarely to have information first but they collate it well and it means people don't have to troll through all the forums.
Bell looks nice.
The pictures were full of detail shots, especially of the Rat Ogre with skaven runes cut into its skin, the effort-distended muscles, and the gray seer who is perched on top, screaming he obscene prayers to the Horned Rat.
The Plague Furnace had lots of detail shots too, and the plague monk crew with the plague priest was also impressive in detail and construction.
Nurgle gets all the best potential Warshrine models...
Holy bells thats impressive, you mean.
And was I forgetting something? Oh yeah - IT'S SO BROKEN!
